AutoXed my bone stock CL...

And rode in ton of other cars this weekend at the cali speedway.

I participated in the practice event and not the competition. Went to the comp though.

Anyway, first time out there. It was a pretty long course. Avg times were 68-70sec. Stis were hitting 66-65sec. First run I went ass slow, so nervous and didnt know the course. 90sec. Best time of the day 79sec. Had the course designer and pro drive my car with me in it to see what it was capable of, one try he scored 71sec. I didnt have enough time in the day really figure out what i need improving one. But i know what it is now (not getting my foot off the brake before turning the wheel, doesnt let the wheel find traction and puts in me in understeer like make, end up drifting.)

Pro said it was really awesome though that i made a 11sec improvement over the course of the day. One of the guys I met that runs on my friends team offered me a drive in STi, how could i resist? I drove the hell out of that car it was fucking awesome, but i still made the same mistakes (it was after driving this car that I realized what i was doing wrong, but i was the last run of the day.)

Championship today my friends modded wrx wagon came in 1/1ooth of a sec faster then the fastest STi out there little comp between teammates.

I did some rides in the fun runs, rode in a:

M3 coupe - fucking amazing, that little hatchback tears ass, great driver too, get 62sec
S2000 - awesome handling car
2x Sti - still love these the best, want one so bad.
EVO - great car
SRT-4 - rear suspension was messed, car was modded, didnt really care for it at all. nice stock seats though.
NSX - love it.
modded wrx wagon - hot car, fast as balls, TIGHT suspenion, still prefer the STi

All in all had a blast. signed for the EVo driving school in july. plan to keep doing this, even in my CL, until I can afford STi. Too damned addicted. glad i finally did it.

Have pics, but fucking studio MX is being a bitch, so unless some one hosts, i cant post right now.

You're saying the 2.3 CL got a 71 sec time with a pro driver with STis getting 66ish?

I wonder how the 3.2 Type S would do in the hands of that same driver. I'm sure he could break 60 with the STi though.

Yes, and the pro was the guy who designed the course. Several people got him to drive their car....the dude can fucking drive anything and well!

He also kept telling me how shocked he was at well my car handled stock.

Best part of the day was when I came in from a run and the annoucer said "finishing is David XXXXX in his Honda Acccord.....No, wait.....What the hell is that thing????"

Still working on getting pics up.

Awesome, I love autox too. I had my first a few weeks ago in my S2000. I got a ride with a pro driver in another s2000 and I was amazed of how hard you can push them. My best was 49.x from a bunch of 1:05, 1:08's and the fastest time was 46.9 in a S2000.

Autox is a really fun event and you get to ride in a bunch of different cars which is awesome.

Auto-X is a freakin blast. I've only been once, but I plan on going again. The course I went to had an average time of about 30 seconds for fast guys and low 40's for slower guys. I started in the high 30's and ended up with a best lap of 32.X, which was good enough for 3rd in my class. Not bad for a drag oriented Mustang on soft sidewall drag radials and drag struts.

And if you think you have understeer you need to throw a front heavy V8 car around. I think I scraped some letters off my front tires from the amount of understeer.

This is understeer LOL

jtkz13: owgh.. too many light poles and curbs on that track for my liking! Looks like you might have got some air under one of the tires.

sarllac23: do you switch the VSA off for Autox?

Now I know this isn't a CL, but it's a video from inside a 350Z running an AutoX course. I thought it would be cool to show what it looks like from the drivers perspective to those of you that have never tried it before.

http://www.circuitspec.com/Videos/20...im_Lap3_sm.wmv

It's definitely addicting and a big rush

I got some vids of my car getting air under the inside rear tire

And the course was pretty safe, no light poles or curbs anywhere where it would be dangerous.

I'll be running my '01 CL in a few weeks in my first AutoX here in South Jersey. Stock except for the wheels & tires (Mille Miglia EV-Rs wrapped with 215/50-17 Conti ExtremeContacts). Went to watch a meet this weekend and had a blast with my 2-yr old.

I'm looking forward to seeing what this baby is capable of before I install some new springs and maybe a sway bar. I hope to stay in G Stock, but the wheels aren't quite offset right and may be wider than Stock allows. That would put me up in STX with a bunch of WRXs. EEK!
