Auto-X results

Here's a link to the autocross results last Sunday morning. I feel I did pretty well with my "Heavy-ass FWD boat". I ran the NoviceAM group. Second time I've ever been to an auto-x. Those S2000's and Turbo Miatas are someone else to watch.

For those of you that haven't tried it yet it is a rush! Even better than 1/4 drags...but not as fun as Lapping Day at the track.

your about 6-7 seconds from the overall top times, which isnt too bad considering its your 2nd time and the car you are driving!

I felt I represented the CL decently. I think I could improve my time 1-2 seconds and then the car would start being my real limiting factor. If I was running some auto-x tires like the Hoosiers I think that would give me 1-2 seconds in itself. The Toyos were squeeling like stuck pigs by the end of my runs due to the heat build-up.

I always run with it off. In fact, I turn VSA off 1/2 the time I'm driving anyway. The tires lose traction quite a bit in auto-x so I'd guess the VSA would become too intrusive while accelerating out of a turn. That's got me thinking though, that maybe it would help keep traction and therefore make the turns a little faster.

You did really well.

I would leave VSA off aswell. VSA is more of a safety feature then a performance feature.

in taking turns w/ vsa both on and off...

imo you will be able to do more if you are making the turns correctly w/ vsa off. (breaking before turn, steady thru turn, excelerate out)..

w/ vsa on it feels like whether i'm taking the turn quick or slow it still is activating and slowing me down..

I beat alot of cars that should have been faster than me. The M3, 330ci, 350Z's, Miatas, etc should have been faster. Just goes to show you and the "right" car needs to have the "right" driver. I have to admit though, I am an automatic and don't have to spend time worrying about shifting. The first time I tried auto-x I did horribly. I added the Koni Yellows and lightweight Centerlines and it made all the difference in the world!

whoa... that is a strange classing structure. I'm used to the SCCA classes.. DSP (me), sts, stx, sm, etc..

congrats on the trophy.

That was when I did a lapping day at the track. Auto-x doesn't last long enough to really heat up the brakes. 30-40 laps around a 2.5 mile circuit is a different story...
