auto shift knob removal

I know it might be a repost, but how do you remove the auto shift knob on your CL's? I searched, I twisted, the knob wont budge. the other threads just said to twise counter clockwise.. but do i need to use something to get more leverage?

Your avatar implies that you have a first gen. So with your first gen, there should be 2 screws in the knob. Just unscrew those, and the knob just lifts off.
