Attn: mrdeeno...PIAA 19224: blue coating removal

How did you remove the blue coating from the bulbs? Does it simply scratch off? Also, how does it affect the color of the light when the bulb is on? Is it still a white light and does it match the HIDs better with or without the blue coating? Thanks.

I did see the pic you have in your signature, but the lights always look different in pics.

i used a rotary tool and used the little wire brush tool. it has soft wire bristles, so it didn't scratch the glass at all. the paint just comes off.

i wasn't going for a bluish-white HID look, i was goign for a real foglight-like look. i was using 16w sylvanias from autozone for this before, but i figured i'd try it with the 18w piaas because i already ordered them and didn't like them (got 2 sets, sending 1 to fbazakos).

i don't think it's worth it over the $2.99 for 2 16w bulbs, so if you want to see what it looks like, just go to autozone and get some 16w bulbs ("W16W" is printed on the bulb, not on the package, so you gotta look closely for it...i think the model # is 198LL). the 2w difference isn't a real difference.
