It seems as if everything found wrong on the CL is fixed in the TL, but the only thing we have over the TL's as of now is the 6-speed.. just wait til the TL gets it and then our sales will be even worst

Like I said last month when this was posted....

We are only 3-fold better in terms of YTD %loss than the Integra sales......and they don't even make that car anymore.

The TL is still the cashcow for Acura--look at those sales.

Also, as I stated previously, the reason the 6MT will not help sales now is because all of the enthusiasts that really wanted a manual in the first place, but settled for an automatic, already own automatics now and will not add to the buyers of the 6MT.

Plus, even though the 6MT might have added a bit of legitimacy to the CL it's too little too late baby and not a single car mag gives a damn about it!!

The TL may be the cash cow for Acura but the margins are much better for MDX's.. they still sell at or near MSRP.

Personally, I see nothing in the CL that I like better than what is in the TL, except the 6-speed. Maybe Acura should rename it to the TL Coupe and TL Sedan...and combine sales?

Who cares? If Honda stops making the CL I won't lose any sleep over it. Honda has no one to blame but themselves. Honda didn't put enough effort into marketing the car...stupid commercials, no 6sp until now, and no body kit. Honda needs to take a page out of Nissan's playbook and get with the program.

Not to be mean guys but I don't know if this keeps up they'll be a next gen. CL . I'm a in school for business and they always tell us all business are out there to make money if sales are declining that much it might be the Axe for the CL. Car companies(unless it's a signature car) like to get rid of cars that aren't selling(like look at the old Mercury Cougar(the big one not the one with the little V-6) I look car companies as the dairy department in a supermarket. If a jug of milk(that being the car) sits there and sits there eventally they gotta get rid of it cause no one will buy it. the stock boy(being the automakers) put new "fresh stuff" out there.
now what I wish Honda would do is if y'all are ever bored or got nothing to do go over to Subaru's website and just for fun build a WRX you WOULDN'T BELIEVE the "go fast options" they offer.

Hey, this is what happens when Lexus comes out with a contender and Acura comes out with a compromise. In this day and age compromises in a segment like this just don't cut it anymore. There apparently is no market for a 2 seat near luxury cruiser. You either go top end (mercedes etc.) or bottom end (pontiac). No middle ground here. Clearly these days you either bring it or stay home!

Anyone know the sales figures for the IS300? I know they started slow but I seem to see more and more these days.

Lexus estimated 25,000 IS 300s would be sold in 2001, they sold 31,500. Not sure of 2002 figures but they are slightly off the 2001 pace.

You could not give the sportcross away though.

Not only is the new Mercury Cougar v6 getting the axe (CnD : Coupe/Compact shoot-out), but I remember reading somewhere that Honda is now questioning the validity of a next generation CL.

Like you guys said, no one to blaim but themselves. Lexus and Infiniti have stepped up the baseline for this game, in horsepower, in performance, in styling, in luxury.

Let's see what Acura can do (where the hell is this supposed RWD IS300 contender Honda of Japan?? )

How do you figure CL sales are doing better than the Civic? Total sales and percentage wise the Civic is way ahead of the CL.

Well I'm not being selective and looking at percentages when comparing the Integra and CL, and then looking at numbers when comparing Civic and CL - I'm looking at percentage change for all of them. Percentage-wise the CL is doing better than the Civic and the Insight, both of which lost a lot compared to last year. That's all I was saying.

Anyway

I dunno but I'd like to get a 5speed or whatever speed their stick is and drop the GTE engine in it with a big turbo.

Uhh... maybe my eyes are going bad but I don't see a minus sign if front of the 8.2% change for the Civic.

Civic had an 8.2% increase for the month compared to last year, the CL had a 7.9% decrease for the month compared to last year.

That's all I'm trying say.

Did you mean to say Accord instead of Civic? I'm just looking at percentage changes from last year to this year, not units sold.

I don't want to sound "Anti-Honda"(cause I'm a big Honda fan)but sometimes Honda doesn't think parts of the car.
example if you put a golf cart tranny behind a 3.2 vtec something gotta give. well anytime you got a car down for a week that's gonna tick off the owner and make them not want them to buy it again. plus people start talking (at work and at resturants, and whatever) people overhear that and it becomes like a nasty virus.
I'd rather have a car "over built" than "under built."
I know to make stuff stronger cost more but if it cost 1000-1500 bucks I'd gladly pay for it rather than having a car sitting.

I think you are looking at the wrong thing.. u must be talking aobut the Prelude and Insight not the Civic and Insight..

so Ok that should end the confusion between JRock and BNut

I dunno, I think he was talking about the Accord since the Civic is right below the Accord.
