Apology

Ok guys, Im sorry I came off on the wrong foot last night. I was just reading through all the posts on this site yesterday, and got REAllY ticked off at all the bashing that was going on on the IS300. I know the posts I made were harsh, but it was out of anger. BUT, one thing I do have to admit is that some of you guys really don't realize that the IS3 is actually a good car, and worth every penny when comparing to the 330 AUTO. Now, im not saying that you guys shouldnt voice your opinions, but please realize that not only CL owners browse these boards. The guys at IS300.net bash on other cars A LOT LESS than this board. Trust me. They've come to realize that the CL ans IS are both respectable in their own ways, and judging from some of the replies, I think many members here also realize this. I just hope more do. Once again, Im sorry for the nasty threads that I opened up... it was purely out of anger. And I must admit that i was also looking into the CL-S, but the styling just wasnt me. But to all his own. Take care, and please think before you bash on a car... especially ones that people spent a lot of their hard earned money on. Take care.

Very respectable! I think the IS300 is a nice car, it just didn't happen to be my choice. I hope you enjoy your IS as much as I enjoy my Cl-S.

is300 is a cool car, the only problems i see with it is its interior is a little to small for my taste, and its a little pricey.

that that is it. I like the CL-S more and if the IS 300 was the same price, I would still get the CL-S. Why? Probably the same reason I would take a CL Type S over a new MB SLK. Some cars just arent my taste.

Though I still think the SLK is a AWSOME ride, and I like the IS 300 too.

My dad has a RX 300 too, I chose it for him, he LOVES it. I have driven LOTS of SUVS and my dads car is by far the best...but i still havent test driven the MDX. the rx300 is the most complete luxury suv ever that i have driven. my mom has a ML320, and I swear its a SHITBOX!! rx300 and the Qx4 are the best SUV's i have driven.

the only bad things about the RX300 is a little rattles, and the car doesnt feel to safe at speeds above 60 (100km)...it is definetly not a highway car...Stoned CL, you notice this?

Also when you drive the car with music on LOUD for more than 2 hours, the stero takes a break by itself for like 30 seconds.

I would imagine the MDX being awsome.

Lexus makes great products. The IS is a very nice car. I went with the CL-S. If I could afford the GS400 it might have been a whole different story.

It was admirable that you came back to explain.

Personally I do not understand why so many people on these boards bash each other's cars. I don't know. Maybe it is because there are a lot of young kids posting here. Who cares which car is better? It is so juvenile for people to get on here and talk smack. I wish everyone would grow up.

LEXis...........apology noted and accepted. I think some of our younger testosterone driven guys here jump up and down with a bit more enthusiasm regarding our CL's (read: bashing) but I think no harm is really meant by anyone. We are a passionate group here-just read my letter to the editor in last month's Car and Driver and you'll see what I mean. It's not like you bought a POS car however. Lexus hardly needs to justify its products in the automotive world....you have a fine ride. I have to admit that I'm beginning to get used to the styling, since at first I didn't like the look of it at all. Coming from the "rounder" school of automotive design (ie: XKE), I gravitated towards the CL-S with its smooth lines, (although I still don't like the front end yet!).

Amir,
Yeah i took the rx300 on the highways but didnt really push it, well SUV'S were not designed for going fast.. I never felt UNSAFE at 60-70 but it seems a little floaty, if u know what i mean.

I have this to say about the IS300: I started autocrossing this year, and I do race my CL-S. I'm still very new, and learning as quickly as possible, but one of the best guys who consistently turns some of the best overall times out there every weekend is a guy in an IS300. It looks modified (exhaust, sits lower and has bigger wheels and wider tires than stock) but even considering these mods, seeing that guy turn times on a par with modified vettes and M3's and whatever else is out there, it's impressive. He's obviously a talented driver who has been doing it for some time, but it also speaks quite well of the car. My 2 cents.

He'd be over at IS300 Forums (if it wasn't down) under the nick of derekb.

Actually he races in G-Stock, which means that he can only have aftermarket shocks with the same spring perch height (he has the TRD Illuminas, I'm about to get myself some too), stock springs, and stock-dimensioned wheels (he uses some SC300 wheels, which are the same as the dealer spec'able 16" stockers, on which he shoehorns Kumho V700 Victoracers). I can't recall what exhaust he has, but Stock dictates catback only, so there isn't going to be any big horsepower increases.

That he is. He finished 0.001sec behind the '00 Pro Solo champion's G-Stock Type-R, and he also finished 3rd at Nationals.

Y'know what the funniest thing about Lexus' approach to the IS/GS is? Remember the commercials for the GS about 3-4 years ago? It showed a car going around a tight corner, then a closeup of a hand reaching out and literally touching the road surface. saying something like, "If you want to feel the road, we recommend doing this" or something like that. Now that Lexus has realized that cars mimicking the inside of a living room completely isolating the driver from the world around him don't sell as well as performance vehicles it puts together a couple of great cars. No doubt the GS/IS are both good cars. m My wife likes the IS and I think it's pretty cool except it's too small looking, a la 3 series narrow. So yeah, Lexus builds good cars, but just so happens that the frequenters of this board think the CL-S RULES!

Too fast for you,

One question: Why you would have to have 3 NEW 2001 model cars, (2001 GS430, 2001 IS300, 2001 Corvette ZO6) If you can afford a lot, isn't a redundancy to buy IS300 next to GS430! Keeping the 1985 Camaro next to 2001 Z06!!!

Thanks for your sorryness anyway. Lexus is a great car maker. GS400/430 is really a sweet sport sedan, second to BMW 540 and M5 IMHO.

Go test drive the X5 4.4i and you will never set your feet on the RX again. But of course, the price of X5 is more expensive.

Hi everyone! Well im not rich! I just save my money and instead of buying 1 or 2 nice cars I buy a whole bunch thats just how I am. I live a simple life, I dont live in a 40 room mansion I just live in a 26 room house with my wife, she drives the IS300 and the LS430. I hang out with my friends at my cousins house on Saturday and my wife goes shopping with her friends. Ill adopt you thats fine what ever. Nah just kidding. Well you know I like all my cars! I was stressing over a GS430 or a S4, but ended up with the GS. I just liked it more it felt better made. Peace.

P.S. thank you again for understanding. Thanx oh yeah im GS430 and To Fast For You I just changed my name thats all.

I think your full of it.

Base MRSP
LS430 $54005
GS430 $47355
IS300 $30805
Z06 $47855
Total $180020

And your not rich right?
Why don't you just add a 2001 RX300 and a 2002 SC430 to your list? Then you would almost have the entire 2001 Lexus lineup on your driveway. The IS and LS are both sedans. Your telling me that your "wife" needs two sedans... Why would she drive the IS300 at all if she had a LS 430 equipped with a standard 4.3-liter, V8, 290-horsepower engine. Switch your name all you like. I'm still not going to buy into your BS.

Well 1 you can just say im full of it thats fine! Why didnt I buy a SC430, Rx300, ES300 because I dont care for converts, I hate SUV's, and the ES300 is very boring to me.
Even if I was rich I wouldnt be bragging that I had money. WHo does it just makes you sound snobbey. Im just not like that.

First off, I wasn't complaining...
I was pointing out that it seems almost ridiculous to buy your "wife" two 2001 lexus sedans. Is one for Monday thru Friday, and the other one for weekends? And of course you'll want your own Lexus sedan and the Vette for the weekends...
I was also pointing out that I'm not sure why she would drive the IS300 at all. The LS is a much better car. I'm just looking for some logic in your claim to owning a large portion of the 2001 lexus line-up. And by the way, the my RX300/SC430 comment was sarcastic...
And I don't even think that the 2002 SC430 is available yet, which is part of the joke...

Not for nothing, but this IS an Acura CL board. Sure, other people browse and post here, but it still is what it is. Of course we're going to rag on other cars a little bit. The reason is says that on the forum is b/c the IS300 is probably one of the best cars out there as far as competition for the CL-S. You all have to stop taking this stuff so personal, it's just a car and some friendly competition. That's all!! If you actually look around here, 80% of these guys considered the IS300 before buying the CL.... and a lot of people here like it, even though they own CLs!!

Well Stravis my wife likes the IS300 alot. She drives the LS to work. Then runs around and visits her friends in the IS300. I drive the GS430 to work its comfortable and kinda powerful. When me and my cousins and friend go do something together I usually drive the ZO6 because its super fast. My Camaro I dont use much, sometimes I take it to work once in a while.

I’m still trying to figure out how a 26-room house wouldn’t be considered a mansion.
I live pretty well, but even if I add up all my closets I still only come up with (18) rooms.

I hope you have a good set of floor mats in all those cars because it is getting pretty DEEP in here.

Well I dont consider a 26 room house a mansion! What I do think is a mansion is maybe like 35+rooms. I would consider my cousins house a mansion his house is like 42 rooms or something in the 40's he only owns 3 cars though, a Ferarri 550 Maranello (sp), a Porsche 911 Turbo (brand new), and his wife owns a Lexus LX470 (shes into SUV's). He has a crap load of money.

Are you for real? This is the most ridiculous crap I have ever seen! Who gives a crap how many rooms are in your house? The only way you have all that crap is to lie. Go back to IS300.NET.

Alright, he apologized, we accepted.

That is the point of this thread, not how many cars we all own, or how many rooms we have in our house.

Closing thread! Have a nice day!
