Apexi Neo?
#3
I had the NEO on the F20B engine I was running and it auto-saved correcting the previous problem with the SAFC. I HOPE this isn't the case. I wanted to run the NEO on the C32, but didn't know if it was going to be worth it.
Stolen avatars all over the place. I actually jacked that one from a friend on another forum.

Sounds like you know more about the neo than me, I picked up a emanage like a year ago and it's still in my closet. All I remember about the neo was that it didn't work on the 6mt. Could be different for the auto, let me see if I can find the thread... edit- quick search shows lots of mixed reviews and unanswered questions.
Maybe try your luck if you have a neo already, and a friend at a dyno shop? If you got it to hold or "save" the tune i'd be impressed.

The dyno is a 7 hour drive to the shop I use. Leave on a Friday night, tune on Saturday and drive back Sunday. I only plan on going for a tune after getting everything, but I don't want to get out there and then something go south.

From what I've read, no one really posted what's going on with the NEO during tuning or why it's not saving. I don't see how the ECM could override the intercepted signals by the NEO and then adjust the output without knowing what the true signals from the sensors are?

I'm going to call the shop out in Denver and see if they know anything about it. They told me not to deal with the AEM FI/C because it doesn't work for a full spectrum tune and can do more damage than good. Hopefully I can find SOMETHING out about the Neo.

Exact words from the shop:
"Well, I talked to our tuning tech. He said you're SOL. The CL & TL Type S are a car no one really invested time into when it comes to tuning. Buy another car if you want the ability to do so."
FUN!

Lol. Good luck getting Hondata the least bit interested.
I might still have their reply in my email, but if memory serves me correct it was along the lines of "we have no plans, now or in the future, to support any J series motor."
I approached them right when the AEM EMS2 was announced for the J series to show them that the market is beginning to take off on these motors and other companies recognized this. They brushed it off as though I was asking them to help me build a space shuttle.
BTW, Hondata did attempt to reflash a 3rd gen TL ecu a few years ago and it failed miserably.
Out of curiousity though, what is the reason you need a tune? The stock A2 ECU is surprisingly good at adjusting AFRs for bolt ons. That good feature is also the reason its so intrusive with piggy backs.

"It's for the future."
Basically, I have a small pile of plans and if I can only go so far with them, I need to know sooner than later when I have passed that point and shoot myself in the foot. I try to think 1-2 years ahead and imagine what will be done at that time and whether I want to press it.
There is yet another company that I can look into as well. They've done amazing things with V8s & 4 cylinders but I haven't heard of anyone working on a V6. Megasquirt. I will talk to a few of the guys locally that run it and see if they know anything more. It would be a stand alone EFI controller for about $400-$500.

The MS should work, you just need to mount different cam sensors IIRC. Shouldnt be too difficult.
