Anyway to customize factory nav?
Wondering if there is anyway to customize our factory nav units, for instance make them show the "A" logo when powering it on, or playing actual DVD's, or is there anyway to retrofit a newer "acura" unit in its place?

Yea it's possible. You can change a file to have a new startup pic, but I wouldn't recommend watching DVDs on it. The screen will lose its life really quickly.
As for retrofitting a newer unit, it's not going to be easy. Its possible with enough effort, but I don't think it's worth it.
Just get an aftermarket unit to replace the radio. One that plays movies or anything else you want. 2 screens are better than 1.

You'll have to make a .iso of the Navi disc, and edit one of the picture files. Then reburn it, and run the new disc. They are double layered discs, so you'll need compatible equipment. Also, I would use some high quality media.
Try searching the electronics/navi/sound section of the forum.

Agreed... I've definitely tried. No one has ever taken the time or been able to disassemble the files that I have found, and then reburn them on a good working DVD. Definitely frustrated me!
There are some aftermarket adapters that allow you to flip between the navi screen and another input or two using the navi screen. Thats about all I've found to date.

I use to read about them doing that on the 3G TL's and one of the Alpine double dins but never heard any attempt on the CL Navs. I agree though, just replace the radio with a double din DVD player.
Anyone know how to get a wiring harness for the factory Navi though?
