For anyone who's muffler is hanging too low
The right muffler on my CLS was hanging a little lower than the left. I solved this problem by putting a metal hose clamp next to the rubber support and adjusting it with a screwdriver to the desired hieght. It was very easy and it looks perfect.

My left one hangs a bit lower than my right one, but I have been told by my doctor that this is normal.

Or
Did you reduce the size of the rubber hanger by compressing it with the hose clamp?

Well actually, it's kind of both because I attached the hose clamp right next to the rubber support. Then I adjusted it by tightening the clamp. So its attached to the body mounting point as well as the muffler. I hope this helps.

I have some stainless hose clamps in the workshop that I could use. Sounds like a better fix then bending the body mount or muffler hanger. If I had to pick one I would have told the dealer to bend the muffler side not to mess with the body. Acura obviously messed up with the welding point for the body side hanger to cause this problem in the first place. I was looking for a shorter muffler hanger to fix this problem (with no luck), but i'll try this until I do. Thanks for the info.....

Is this muffler-thing a problem with older or newer models? Mine seem to line up evenly. I bought my car in July 2000.

I thought about that, but I'm not sure if they're strong enough. Also They might be effected by the heat of the muffler and may melt. I think metal is the way to go for a permanent and reliable fix.

this sounds like a good idea. i have one question before i do this. but isn't the hanger made of rubber for a reason, like to absorb the vibration.

I tried it. It's been several days now, There aren't any noticable difference in vibration or anything relating to noise. The only thing I noticedis that my muffler finally hangs on the same level as the other one. Regarding to it digging in to the metal and rust. If you do it correctly it doesn't rub at all. And if it did rub on the muffler support, it would take so long to rust out that hook part anyway that it would already be time to get a new muffler. My suggestion is just a possible solution to a common problem. You can take it or leave it, it's up to you.
