Anyone test a CL-P before buying a CL-S

I was just wondering if anyone had actually driven both cars before they decided on their purchase. I for one knew I wanted the Type S because of more HP so I didn't even test the CL-P. I kind of wish I did just so I would know the difference in the two cars.

Anyways, let me know if tried both cars or just went for the CL-S.

Nope, didn't even look at it, except for the blue color. went straight for the cl-s w/ navi. But I do want to drive a cl-p one time to see the differance.

Yeah I did, and noticed a lot more pull in the top-end of the RPM range, not to mention that addicting sound of the intake plenum opening which is now almost unoticable with my new favorite sound from the CAI/VTEC combo!

Also, I really preferred the perforated seats and shift knob, and those CLP rims are disgusting.

I drove a TL.... does that count??

The "S" just has a little more edge to it. The engine sound is the only thing I found significantly more sporty.

I guess a TL counts... Why not a TL-S? Were they not out yet? My dealership had a Blue TL-S with the body kit, Comptech Exaust, springs, sways, and headers.. and the AEM CAI... It also had some sweet 18 inch rims. I would have liked to test it but it was inside the showroom and they wanted 41K for it... OUCH!

I drove both. CL-P first, then the CL-S immediately thereafter. The difference was noticeable and I really like the CL-S gauges. CL-S ride was stiffer but more powerful.

I knew I wanted the S too, so I didn't even bother with premium either, but I would like to drive one too, to see how much you can actually feel the difference.

If I hadn't gotten a CL-S, I probably would have gotten a Honda Accord EX V6.

I wonder how the EX V6 compares to a CL-P...

I've driven all 3. Drove the -S first and really liked it, probably a bit too much. Then went to the -P, and didn't notice much of a difference, except in the handling and power off the line. It just wasn't worth the extra cash for me, because it definitely would have lead to speeding tickets in the long run.

The Accord EX V6 has a much more "mushy" ride than the -P, and the power and acceleration are subpar for a 200 hp engine. In my mind the extra touches and the wealth of standard features in the Acura made it worth it. I just couldn't see spending $25K for an Accord when I could get a -P for a few $$ more.

I really liked the S and was set on getting it too. My dad made me get a TL instead because 2-door's are a hassle sometimes. Oh well. I still love my TL.

Yes, I test drove both on my first dealer visit. I drove the Type-S first, then the P. Although the power of the Type-S was more significant than that of the P, I really liked the Type-S interior and rims a lot better.

I ended up testing driving the Type-S two more times before buying one.

I placed a (refundable) deposit on a Type S in February 2000. Drove the first CL-P in March 2000 and awaited the first CL-S in March 2000 in Kentucky. I drove the CL-P after driving my car (92 Legend) and my brother's 2000 Passat VR6. I figured that the CL-P was nice so more hp= better. Bought the CL-S without even driving one. Actually, my dealer ordered both a silver and a gold one 'cause I told him I'd take which ever one I like better. And then, I got pulled over 4 days after I got it doing 75 on some Ky back roads. Cop kinda laughed and told me to enjoy my new car a little slower.

I did, type-s first then a p with navi. The suspension in the P was way too soft and mushy. The P has a good engine, but the S has more of a 'get out of my way' feel and pull. Seats where more comfortable in the S.
In almost a year I only had 2 occasions where I may have used the navi, but every day I use all the S's amenities. Even more so with the sway bars.

I drove the CL-P version when they first came out before the "S" version was available. (March 2000). I liked it and decided to wait until I could drive a Type "S". Once I drove one, that was it. Bye bye Maxima, hello CL-S! The only thing I miss is the 5 speed manual and the stereo (and the payment).

Blah, Blah, Blah.

Is that all you got? "I'm a half-second faster. I like the wheels better. My engine sounds better." I guess spending an extra $2,350 for what amounts to an eye-blink advantage to 60 is well worth it.

Whaddaya gonna do? I guess I gotta take my lumps for rationalizing my decision.

I'll bow down to the Type-S now, but I'll also be there when you guys catch shit from the Manual CL-S'ers.

BTW, it's all good....so there's no need to flame.

Hee hee. Um. Yup.

Before my test drive, I didn't think I'd like the size of the car. I was actually going to wait around for the RSX. But once I drove it, there was no turning back. I did get to drive a CL-P for a day while they inspected my Integra trade-in, but it just didn't feel the same. 'Course, you mod that sucker up and I'm sure it's just as good.
