Anyone race a BMW or Benz??

Would love to read about how the CLS or TL racks up to the Bavarian machines.

I don't have a CL but I do have a BMW. It is a 1991 BMW 535i. I have the Bav auto chip, and the K&N intake kit. Bav auto figured out that I've got about 245hp and 270pd ft of tourque. I also have bilstien shocks, einbach springs, and the stress and sway bars to go along, it is lowered about 2 inches. As I was telling TYPE S SMOKES ALL I was able to walk away from the Type S at speed on the highway, and I was also able to take it off the line without too much of a problem. Maybe that guy couldn't drive his automatic , or maybe I had a good run through the gears, but those are my experiences.

Don't you have an stick shift? 270 lb torque with a stick should easily beat the cl in 0-60. Not suprising at all.

Yes, I do have a manual transmission. However, with the amount of tourque my 225 45 16's have a tendency to lose some grip in second gear no matter how good of a shift i make. I was able to beat him, so I guess that is all that matters. By the way the 540 is a great car, I am looking to get a 540i 6 speed within a year or two.

Great kill! But I wouldn't race a car during first hour of ownership. Thats hardly a break in.

Yep, I originally wanted to get another 540, but couldn't get myself to spend another 20k, esp. since I just bought a house. The 295 lb torque back then was an amazing feeling, you won't be disappointed with the new ones, I'd get one if I could!

I have started looking around, I can't afford a new one looking for 96-98. I've never driven a manual 540 only auto, it is hard to come across a 6-speed over here in Western Pennsylvania. Thanks for the feedback.

Raced my girlfriend's mom's 2000 E320. Don't know how much 'kudos' I get for that. Oh, by the way, beat it pretty bad too. Haven't had a chance with the E430 but sounds like it would be fun. Would I be able to beat these two with the TLS?

M3Sins, my uncle has the CLK430 Cab. I run with him in my bimmer, but he'll get me by about about a carlength everytime. So you should be able to beat the e430 no problem. THey are very fast so drive it hard.
