Anyone painting their valve covers ?
I'm picking up a extra set of valve covers tomorrow and I'm thinking of painting the rear black and the front one a purple color I haven't pick a shade yet.
How do you think this color or maybe a little lighter would look ?

Just got back from grabing them.
20 bucks for the pair, hell yah.
I'm going to see if my friend will let me use his blasting cabinet depending on what he has to strip with tonight to make quick work of removing the old paint.
Over the next couple days I won't mind any suggestions for painting them.
O'yea, some of you are thinking I'm talking about the plastics but, I'm actually talking about the valve covers them self.

I just took a look at them to clean them up and the dam valve covers are for a 2003 accord and I'm not sure I could use them.
Bolts line up,spark plug tubes do ,even the mounts for the wire cover badge I think.
It looks like it's a little shorter in height and don't know if that would be a issue, along with the front cover has a dip stick hole in the cover and some differnt pvc piece.
Anyone know if it will fit.
If not looks like I'll be taken a day to do the one's I have on there and bust them out in a day.
I hate speed bumps.

Sunday is the day I will be taking mine off and doing them I guess then unless the guy that I got them from can find one to swap.
If not I guess I will paint the accord ones nice and maybe make a few bucks since I only paid 20 I should be able to make something out of them.

Ok I'm about to go over board again.
The guy says he has the right valve covers but he has to take them off.
So then my brain is spinning,
Does he have some heads for sale.
He has a whole type-s motor for sale.
I told him their is another local guy will sell me one for 280 picked up.
If we can work something out for a better price or money and some parts I want to.
He said call after 5. UT-O
Going from valve cover's to a whole engine.
WTF is wrong with me![Ponder](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/ponder.gif)

Let's see if I will be stepping it up to the a2 game or it's a false alarm.

my bad, I didn't realize you meant the valve covers, I'd love to see you come up with something and paint the sumbitches

Polished would look the best if clean. Otherwise i would say black. I noticed on my front cover the stock silver paint has some big bubbles in the paint and the paint is peeling. I might get around to polishing/painting at some point.

P'n on s's soon looks like.
Man junk yards dont know their ass from there elbow.
It came with comptech headers, just the headers,J pipe was cut.
I'm sure those will help someone with damaged uppers.
I starting laughing when I seen them,1100 dollars headers chopped.
Looks like I will be getting serious this winter.

Ya, I could not really loose in anyway getting it for $250.
I couls sell pieces I might not use and recoupe for even a cheaper deal on the motor or some free parts for the rebuild.
I'm not going to start taking it apart till a grab a manual then it will bagged/boxed.
The first thing I will probally have the block hot tanked,honed/board.
And start working on the heads.New cams/seals and reseat the valves and some port work.
Not sure if I'm going to use the type s manifold w/o the mdx spacer or my worked clp manifold and mdx spacer.
I'm thinking it might be best for me to use my current clp manifold and if the engine needs more intake volume maybe have some one make some plenum spacers.
Not sure yet I'm going to try both ways when the motor is finally in.
But it honestly won't be in for a while since I need lots of stuff and pockets are empty.

Manifold and up is off ,and engines wiring harness is also off.
All plugs are all labeled I could and those things are boxed.
More will be comming off tomorrow.
Things I seen so far were:
rubber strip over the butterfly's was ripped in half and imrc's brackets were bent.
Are the butterflys supposed to be completely closed at rest ?
One good thing was it has a brand new icav on the TB.

There is a seperate computer that controls the IMRC. Dont bother sourcing it, its just going to give you more headaches.
Get an RPM activated switch and wire it up that way.
Do you know if this motor even runs?

He said it did,I don't know if it runs but,I can turn it over with a rachet, plugs and oil look fine.
This is not going to be a drop in 35 for me.
Whole thing is comming apart and I'm going to make something happen. What ,who knows, but something will happen.
I have the cars vin on the tag to descibe the motor.
Does anyone have anything where they can check the vin to see how many miles were on the car ?

Wondering if I should even bother taking the lower end apart.
Timming belt looks brand new and the top of the valves are totally clean looking into the intake side of the heads.
like the heads might've been rebuilt too.
No carbon build up at all on the valves but the egr port has carbon chunks though.
I was told the motor had 110K
Looks like someone did the 105k maintaince for me at least.
Man did I get a good deal.
should I rip it apart any way I'm just about to pull the heads ?

Why take it apart at all?

To catch up,That would be about the only reason now because everything is looking fine.
I don't want to just drop it in for a 35hp increase.
I want more.
I kinda don't want to go threw all the hassle but, I want more.
I need a dam manual now or some pages.

Thats normal. The rear head doesnt have any air flow so it will run hotter, thus the discoloration.
