Recvd a gift certificate (Best Buy) from the wife to install remote start in my baby. The unit I want is $189, which I didn't think was too bad, but BB in Vernon Hills wants $150 to install it! They say it's b/c of the chip in our key & other random parts.

I'm willing to believe it's not the easiest install, but this seemed crazy expensive! Anyone out there get it installed for less? If you know any place in far north suburbs that's more "Acura friendly" plz let me know!

I got a remote starter installed at Custom Sound in Ann Arbor, MI (not much help I know), but if you get them a copy of the key (you can get an unprogrammed one from the Acura dealer for $30-$40, or $50 programmed), and then they will need to order the unit to keep the part in (I think that's a $30 - $50 value).

My recommendation would be to go to the remote starter's website, and see if they have an authorized dealer locator on the website. If not any store that installs car audio should be able to do it... I think $150 install is a bit much especially if Vernon Hills is the best buy you bought it from.

P.S. Installing the remote starer by yourself is a pain unless you're an electrical engineer and if you have a warm place to work

What options are they installing? Just remote start? Keyless, trunk pop etc? What model number is the remote starter? The big chains are getting ridiculously cheap with their remote starts.
