Anyone have problems w/ their AEM Pulleys?
I'm just following from my post a few months ago. Has anyone had problems with their AEM Pulleys?
Such as:
Dimming lights at stops
Dying or dead batteries
Dead alternators
Any other electrical problems
----------------------------------------
If so, please post here.
Be sure to include when you installed the pulleys, and when you started having problems. Also, describe your problems.
Thanks!
Dizzy

My problems. Installed pulleys in Feb. Battery died around May. Alternator died soon after. Replaced battery and alternator....Cost me over $600 for all this. AEM Pulleys installed at Brown Honda....They now no longer sell the pulleys their as a result of my and another members experience with them. I have also issued a Not-Recommended rating for this product for all Accord V6's on my site.
I'm not sure about the Acura-CL experiences...hence this post. There's a possibility that we might try to force a recall on all Accord V6 AEM pulleys so we're gathering evidence right now.
Thanks for your help.

Have had them on since early spring without one single incident. During the instal I did note some issues that could lead to problems. The Alternator pulley is not keyed or splined, it uses simple compression. If not properly torqued I would assume it could slip some leading to possible issue.
Otherwise I'd have to chalk my success up the the larger output alternator on the Type S.

Not to mention that AEM made the pulleys specific for the Type-S too....probably the only product other than the CAI, designed specifically for our cars..and not a by product of our Accord V6 lineage.

I have had them only for about a month or so but nothing yet. I am crossing my fingers! I think someone was goingto do a teat on the current from the Alt. before and after the pulleys to see if there is a big drop.

I have the pulleys for like 7 months now on my tl-s. I have no problems. Install it after I got my system. I run a isolator and backup battery plus a cap. I know my altinator will break down but that's what happens when you juicing a big system. But no problems yet(knock on wood)
