Anyone ever run a WRX?

on the way to work this morning, i was on the typical country backroad following a WRX who was behind a pickup. Once the dotted line approached we both hit it. I was never WOT, and was right on his bumper. At about 110, he proved that he had bigger cajones and kept accelerating, due to lovely PA roads (you know if you live here), I couldn't see myself going any further, the car was bouncing around and I could just see a pothole costing me at least a grand! At least I know I'm right in focusing on suspension now.

BTW, it wasn't an STI. My only mod is CAI.

You shouldn't have a problem besting or, at the very least, pacing a stock WRX from a roll. Suspension is a definite upgrade. The car gets pretty agitated at high speeds on uneven roads.

Well it would help to know what kind of car you have.

With that said, WRX's will hook up good off the line, but the second they hit 3rd gear, it's like the turbo just drops out of the engine bay. They got nothing after 2nd gear, nothing.

Subaru uses a small ass turbos on the wrx so it may be good off the line but in the upper bands the car just dies. A type S shouldnt have any problem taking one out from a roll. The STI is pretty much the same. If you have a type s with headers, cai, and pulleys you should get away especially once they start getting into the higher speeds since those turbos pretty much give up.

I've taken quite a few WRX's from a roll very easily.

ah, depending on the driver . . . meaning if he's willing to punish the STi off the line . . .

also, from a roll . . . I disagree I've seen an STi get caught at 1/3 track by a CLS with 50 NOS shot.

I totally agree. my friend use to have a wrx. Back then my only engine mod was a CAI and he took me hard each time off the line but wen 3rd came into play the races were mine by a lot

odds are that you beat the driver not the car. i've seen some trap @ 102 on up at the track. i've also seen them trap much lower. doubt your car will trap 100+ consistenly with i/e, but nice kill.

I beat a stock WRX 5 speed at the track a couple times. He was mid-high 14's, but he wasnt really punishing the car off the line. I would catch him by the 1/8th mile and then put a car length or two on him before the traps.
