Anyone else have this noise?
Okay I've heard about the passanger door. (don't have it)
I've heard about the rear speaker deck. (have it)
But I haven't heard this one from any of you it is almost like a buzzing it is short less than a second I only notice it shortly after the car has been started for the first time in a few hours. It seems to be coming from directly in front of the driver's seat. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the power steering system. I'll pay more attention and see if it is only when I'm turning the wheel.

You'd think since I have a type S 2001 they'd have fixed this problem as for the road noise I can't say that i've heard it. Howerver when it is raining it sounds like my rear windows are open (except they can't open) I guess the rear wheels kick water up against the rear wheel wells and they aren't too well insalted so it sounds like a lot of roar noise.

thats what mine is...it sounds like it's comming from behind the steering wheel or above the speedo....i think it might have to do with the inside climate control

I've seen this one on other boards. Been told by many that it's the ABS. I though it might be the VSA, but I turned that off and started the car, still made the noise.
I think it is the ABS pressurizing.

Okay, it IS the ABS. Not pressurizing though. It's a self test every ABS system makes on every car. Some are noticable, some not. On ours, it sounds like the short buzzing noise. Nothing to worry about unless it does that and your ABS light stays on, that'll mean the test failed.

I noticed the same noise, the first day I drove the car. I am sure that the sound is coming from the engine compartment.
As if it some mechanical device is being calibrated or reseeted. It could the abs pump, steering wheel, vsa... for sure it sound like "bzzz, zittt" and that is it.
It come each time I start the car and start driving/steering.....

Mine waits till I turn around to get out my long drive way. Always does it once car is moving forward at about 2-5 mph.
Until people started talking about this, I thought I was going to have to ask the Acura Care people. But, the one thing I can always count on is the bzzz, rmpt, bzzz noise on start-up. (I leave with windows partially open during start-up, otherwise I don't notice it with so much noise in Lost Angeles)

I'm out of HELL!!!!
The buzzing sound you hear IS the ABS pressurizing/testing itself.
It will happen twice. The first time is when you exceed 3 or 4 mph (in either reverse or forward). The second time is at 12mph. That's it. You don't see any ABS lights or anything else when the system prepares itself.
Hope this helps.

I know of two noises that happen everytime I start up the car. The first one that I think most of you are talking about is the ABS doing whatever it does... sounds kinda like a short buzz of an electronic pump or something. Then the other one that hopefully all of us know about by now is the passenger side view mirror that automaticly tilts down when you put the car into reverse, then back up when you put it in drive. This sound is pretty similar to the ABS in my opinion except it comes from the right instead of infront.

that "abs pressurising/test sound" you hear when you first start driving also occurs if you activate the abs while driving. I hit a wet spot in the parking garage (very slippery concrete) the other day and activated the abs briefly. as soon as I released the brake, I heard the "pump" noise briefly. I guess the system also performs a self-test following activation.
I've also noticed a higher-pitched buzz upon starting the car in the morning, and I finally traced it to the cd rattling in the head unit on cold morning. I've noticed the same sound when the changer is changing discs in cold weather, too. sometimes the changer shuts down completely and rolls over to fm radio when this happens. hitting cd again will usually correct the problem, though.
