anyone else drive with shoes off?

or am i alone. i cannot stand the dirt that shoes bring in the car and i mostly cannot stand the mark left on the floor mat by the heel of a shoe.

am i nuts or what, you know my family wants to commit me!!

when anyone i allow to ride in my car gets in, i tell them to bang their shoes together. talk about dirty looks, hehe

mr clean, is he alone in this anal approach or what?

Well, considering it's illegal in NY.... No. Even if it was legal I wouldn't do it. Like JasonT said, that's what floormats are for. I just shake them out every so often, and vacuum them once a month.....

I picked up a set of the Acura all weather floor mats from Tim just for that reason.

They are great for the winter and fit perfectly. No more salt/sand stains.

(For the half inch of snow we got last night, my town threw down 2 inches of salt on the roads, WTF!?)

Good idea except for the driver, since driving without shoes is unlawful in most states.

i drive sans footwear when i drive long distances.

sucks though when you gotta pee, and the closer you get to the john, the more you have to go. then you have to put your shoes on!

Yeah i always take my shoes off on long trips or on short ones if i am wearing flip flops or something. I know its illegal but its a lot more comfortable for me especially because it is hard to shift some times in flip flops or something like that but thats just me

You guys always obey the law? A good friend of mine always drives with no shoes. I've tried it once but found it extremely uncomfortable, I felt like I had less control.

Get a set of Weather Techs (mats). They're awesome. I've had them since I bought my car in '99 and they still look brand new. You'll never put a hole in these baby's with your heel. And they make different models to fit every car exactly.

I feel like I have more control when I'm barefoot. I can feel everything my car is doing, or so I like to think.

In the summer....I ALWAYS take my shoes off.
They're usually slip-ons or flip-flops anyhow, so piece of cake.

I could care less if it's 'illegal'. If I get pulled over...you know what...I'll put them back on!!! It doesn't effect my driving whatsoever.

I wear filp flops A LOT, so yes I do take them off and drive barefoot. I feel I have more control because my foot is making direct contact with the pedal.

I was digging around for some real information on this (at least in Joizey) but the only thing I found was that this may be an urban legend -

Who knows...

Thanks for posting this. After reading this my wife says that she no longer considers me the most anal person she knows when it comes to keeping the car clean.
