Mine's a 97' and I bought it a little over 2 years ago. I debaged around that time and I only had to use a little bit of rubbing compound to get the residue off with no shadows. Wax will do the same if that's what you have available.

you think it's going to matter based on the climate??? Beet yer in AZ where it's warm to hot all year round...i've dealt with a couple pretty tough winters and warm to hot summers

Just do it! looks good!
I have 2001 black CL and I debadged only a week ago.
My cars about 3 and half years.
and I don't think the climate really matters.
didn't take long and It's completed gone

I think out in the desert would be worse for potential shadows...AZ sun beating down on the car all day for the past few years....I thought the paint would be a little bit of a different color under the badges where it has been protected from the sun.
I'm sure your car would be fine...I doubt you would see anything on the red. Just buff/wax the hell out of it after you get the emblems off.

I was thinking of that too, but mine is almost 4 years old, and black. don't think now is the best time to do that. not sure how much of a problem that would be since yours is red.

To test the paint, just remove the Acura A logo and see. It uses posts to attach and has no glue as far as I know. If you see a shadow just reattach it and don't mess with the letters.

debadged looks better, but I bed your red paint will have faded, and you'll have permanent paint letters.....

I debadged my 2001 just a few months ago and I had some ghosting but nothing a buffer won't get out.. Just get a heat gun, dental floss and some goo-gone.. Then buff it out..

I did mine after 2 years....I was fine. You've kept you paint shiney as hell....and even if there is light shadowing, a orbital buffer and a fine cut paint cleaner....you'll be fine!

I debadged my '01 SSM last fall, after two-and-a-half years. There's a little shadow, but I haven't really cleaned, clayed, or buffed it. :o
I expect that the shadows will be gone when I finally get to it.
I would be reluctant to do it on SMR, though.
