Anyone customize that blank slot beside the VSA button?

I wanted to know if anyone has put something in the place of that blank spot beside the VSA switch and the cruise control switch? I know the TL's have that spot for their road lamps, but has anyone on here hooked up a button to that side and what were the kinds of things that you have that button control?

There's also one beside the console dimmer switch as well. Anyone hooked anything up to it?

Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

I put a regular on/off switch in there. Its connected to a vibrator in the passenger seat, for the ladies

You can put anything you want there. Some put a subwoofer level know there, others put a fog switch, air horns, you name it.

how would you go about rigging the TL switch for the fog lights into a cl?

would that work?

i always wanted to do that but only would do it if i knew how and could make it look stock.

anyone done this?

Thanks for the replies. Yeah that would be cool for the ladies lol

Yeah I wanted to get some ideas. Subwoofer level switch might be something I could get cuz I was thinking about gettin a system placed into my trunk. I guess the ppl puttin the system would be the expert on customizing that part

But I've wondered the same thing too about the fog lamps/road lamps just like on the TL. I figured rewiring that would be a hassle in itself for the person who's doing the job. Sounds like a difficult job, but ild like to have that as well.

I bought a extra cruise/tcs switch that I was going to use for my halo's to make a factory look but,It needed to be trimed a little or the opening needed to be trimed a little ,I dont remember witch.
It will fit.I just didn't feel like triming it.
not only that there were like 6-8 wires on it and didn't want to figure out the pinout.

actually some of those wires would be quite easy to wire in cause all they are for are the illumination/lights, so all you have to do is tap into the switch right next to it :slaphead:

also for putting a switch into a factory blank plate spot, it can kinda be a pain in the ass, because there is bracing on the back of those blank plates which you have to trim down in order to fit a new switch in there, but doable

Yea, just figure out what wires are power, negative, and illumination and hook it up. IIRC there are 5 wires on the TL plug, two of which are wired into the headlights to only allow the fogs to come on with them. Leave them out of the equation unless its something you want.

diff bulbs and shape. the switch will plug right in with no problem. will need to do some wiring to get the switch work like it does in the tl.

I used it for a bass knob, ran a hi- low convertor in the trunk, then ran the RCA's up to the level control. Worked out great. Not a bad way to go if you wanna keep the stock HU.

Thanks again for all of the replies.

So pretty much that blank spot could be used to rewire a fog lamp switch. I gotcha. I always thought was stupid to have that blank spot anyway and to force those road lamps to turn on with the regular xenon lights. I mean, its kinda cool cuz it gives the car a weird look. But you can definitely spot a CL this way. Other cars give u the option of cutting it off.

that switch should just pop in no problem

I put in a TL foglight switch without any modifications. Mine is conntected to the remote turn on wire to power on/off my amp in the trunk. Its fully illuminated (illuminated when headlights are on and indicator lights up when switch is depressed like OEM). looks very factory.

k.. next year I plan on adding that switch in there, and also plan on doing the HID fog upgrade. I want the switch there SO i can turn the lights on when I WANT.... instead of them turning on EVERYTIME i turn on the car... that'd just be killing the ballasts prematurely. IMHO

so next year, I shall make a thread about HOW to do this exactly. maybe even make a DIY for it, since i'm sure many would like to know about the wiring process.
