Anyone with CT Icebox on an '03

be sure you drill a bunch of little holes through the black plastic 'foglight' cover to a nice direct flow of air into the icebox inlet. I just did this after having the Icebox for 2 weeks and noticed some improvment in engine feel and acceleration. Just take a drill with a small size bit ( smaller than a pencil...) and drill about 20 or so holes through the plastic housing. Also the holes cannot be noticed :bigclap:

Ugh... why not just take out the housing when you are at the track when it really matters? Doubtful you picked up any real gains. That is a first though... never seen someone drill it like that. Glad to hear you like it.

I read somewhere (probably here!) that you don't really get a true ram effect (increasing the intake pressure above atmospheric) until you exceed 100 MPH or so -- for most applications all you'll be doing here is adding more potential dirt flow into your intake.

I was always hesitant about doing this just b/c i didn't think it would yield any gains. I might just give it a try now though.

trust me that icebox is pulling more than enough air in through the air horn... no need to drill your housing out.. all your going to do is make your car whistle and cause your filter to suck up all the road dirt, dust and salt powder from the road way.

I doubt drilling holes in the driving light blank would make any difference. There are more than enough air passages around the icebox airhorn to provide more than needed airflow. Maybe at 80+ MPH you might see a very slight increase in power.

I always pop mine out at the track to get the most cold air to it as possible, but on the street I always run with an unmodified plastic insert

Thanks guys...good input as usual !!!
I dont think the dirt/debris will be an issue since the holes are small enough.
Gotta love the icebox though !!!

yeah I wouldnt think so either, but when I took my uni filter out after 3k miles of having the icebox there was all kinds of shit in the bottom of the box. dirt, debris, and the filter itself was filthy .. I couldnt believe it. so somehow stuff gets in there .. it could only get worse with holes.
