Anyone buy an Extended Warranty?
Hey!
I've got just over 48K miles on the car and I'm wondering if its worth investing in an extened warranty. I have a bumper-to-bumper policy through my regular car insurance company but it has a $500 deductible and I don't know if using that will effect the rates on the other parts of the my insurance.
Anyhow, I've seen some extended warranty sites, recommended by Edmunds, where the prices are $900 to $1500 for a warranty that will cover the car for a total of 7 years or 100,000 miles.
I'm also on my 2nd tranny and it only has a 12K warranty on it so I'm just wondering if I really need to do anything above and beyone what I already have.
Anyhow, with only 2,000 miles left on the regular warranty, I'm getting a bit pensive about what to/not to do.
Your thoughts, as always, are appreciated!!!

Yeah, I got an extended warranty when I bought my car. Got it directly from the dealer, 0-deductable 7/75K, $900 bucks.
It's worth it, especially if you're going to keep the car AND with all the tranny issues...

I purchased an extended warranty for my son's '97 CL 2.2 with 39700 miles on it. The Diamond Plan (best plan) - $0 deductible. 4 yrs./48000 miles (from my date of purchase) - $1200. Covers all except normal wear items like brakes, shocks, maintenance schedules, etc. I shopped for 10 days before deciding on this plan. He will need to get hos driver's side window regulator replaced - approx $450 at Acura dealership. I feel confident with this warranty since I am not the original owner of the car. Talk to Chris Cain at WarrantyGold.com and he will outline the possible plans available to you. Tell him Kevin Gallatin sent you. I have had 6 exctended warranties over the life of my car ownerships and all have paid for themselves.

yep...
I got my extended warranty from Park Ave, and did alot of shopping around for prices. I got the 5 yr 100k recently (had 49.3 on my car before I took it in for the second transmission a month ago).
Extended warranty is worth it, and I am pretty sure that Acura will cover the transmission upto the designated mileage.

I got the 7yr/100k mi for a little over a grand. I think it's worth it for peace of mind. I buy cars to drive and enjoy, not to fix and worry if I'm going to reach my destination.
