any reason to buy comptech mufflers

found some in perfect shape on ebay. any reason to put comptech mufflers on a stock exhaust? do you think they would look nice or sound better?

If they would change the sound...I dont want anything ricey...what change would just a muffler do?

Or is it just worthless to even think about.

reason: looks good. low basey sound. That's about it. No SIGNIFICANT HP gains. Lots of threads on this.

lots of threads on the comptech exhaust...I didn't see much about just a pair of mufflers. I didn't know if just mufflers would do anything to the sound.

guess its pretty worthless to do....rather just do the whole exhaust I guess.

thanks synth.

You can't get just the mufflers. In all actuallity the exhaust is only Axle back so there isn't much more to it than mufflers and tips.

Gains are minimal but I have to say they are beautiful compared to stock and I just love the look and sound, so I'm happy I did it.
My car dynoed 5hp higher but I also have the headers, intake and pullies to go along with it. I wasn't able to dyno the exhaust by itself.

That would be them and they look to be in nice condition.
I paid $575.00 shipped through a friend who knows some people at Comptech, so with a reserve who knows what he's trying to get for them.
I saw a set go recently on Ebay for over $500.00 and they were used.
I wouldn't pay anymore than $400.00, otherwise just buy them new.
I'll tell you this, I waited a long time to mod my car because I wanted comptech parts and I'm so glad I did as I avoided some mistakes I saw others make.
I've seen many exhuasts dynoed on the CL and not one gained power and most lost hp and torque.
This is the exhaust to buy in my opinion and I guarantee once you put them on you'll love them. They are polished to a mirror like finish, beautifully made.

Gee, for knowing some people at Comptech, you should have gotten it way lower.

I got mine new from Austin519 for $585 shipped.

Aren't they supposed to have a short section of pipe, and a flange, for a bolt-on installation? It looks like those were just cut off just in front of the muffler.

Would they be any good without the bolt on part?

ill tell you why..more than likely they werent for the CLs the ones for the TL for sure will stick out alot more than intended when put on the CL like 2 inches too much ...he probablly couldnt live with the fitment and welded his exhaust pipes to the can

Unfortunately Comptech will only go sow low, even with a connection, so 550.00 and add 25.00 to ship is a good deal in my book.
Sounds like you got them for a good price as well.
