I want to paint my calipers, but I'm too lazy to use the search function and look up the instructions.

I think the G2 caliper paint system is the most complete one out there. Tirerack.com seemed to have the cheapest price for it.

Painting sucks, it doesn't stay. However, if a daily driver, it's hard to get your calipers coated and be without a car.... You would ahve to buy replacements, send them off, and swap them when done (then clean em up real good and return them for a refund )

Just a reminder: I offered to powder coat calipers, done correctly, in your choice of colors FOR FREE, as I have complete powder coating and curing equipment. The only requirements were that I get clean (and I DO MEAN CLEAN) calipers, that I would mask off where it needed it. And, I could usually turn them around in one day after reciept of the calipers.

No one took me up on this. Oh well, no skin off of my back.

P.S. I know how to do this. 15 years powder coating and 3 us patents in powder coating. #4 expected soon. Whatever.

Did we look into getting a couple brand new sets and throwing them into rotation??

I am down withe the free process Dave.. my car can sit on jackstands for a few days.

I got a local price and the fooker wanted 75 per caliper and 100 bucks for misc. parts that i wanted done... and the turn around was 3 weeks....(He claimed he waits for a big batch so he can fire up the oven)... .. like 250 degress is so fooking hot or something.

Smitty: What kind of look do you want? Should I send you a color chart? What color is your car?

And 250 f is too low of a temperature to cure 99.9% of most powder coatings. And I will not paint anyones calipers until I send them a sample on a steel coupon for their approval. I don't mind doing this, basically it's a lot of fun, and easy to do. But once this stuff is on, it is REALLY hard to get off.

Scooter, first you would have to define "smoked" for me. Smitty, if you still got one, a picture of my black pearl chrome might be what he is looking for. If Smitty doesen't reply, check out www.goodrichtechnology.com I have the darker chrome wheels, $400 for four wheels (which is a steal, but the shipping can get pricey.)

Cleaning your calipers. Remove and dissassemble. Soak in gasoline on a hot day while smoking profusely. When clean, mask cylinder bore(s?) with duct or electrical tape. Also, re insert the brake bleed nipple. Now, wash off any dirt (doesn't dissolve in gas) with soap and water and a scrub brush. The masking is intended to keep water out of the path of the brake fluid and cylinder travel areas.

Now, with the masking still in place, get them sandblasted and place in individual plastic bags and send them to me.

Do the same procedure for any brackets, nuts bolts and washers, and I will do them all.

While shipping and painting occurs, I would wipe down all rubber seals with a clean rag (no solvents) and seal. I would also recommend spending a few bucks for some DOT three brake fluid, and store the pistons in this stuff, immersed.

I will be happy to paint anyones ACURA calipers, but I will not clean or sandblast. I would, upon reciept, remove your masking and replace it with the right stuff for powder coating. I have a mylar masking tape that leaves no adhesive residue as long as 600 f is not exceeded.

I have, in stock, non metalflake white, battleship gray, high gloss black, and a red that is very close to very close to the current acura red. I do not recommend white; white can yellow with heat. I also have in stock a metalflake silver that is a dead ringer for satin silver metallic. But I can get any color you like (damn near), for free as a manufactures sample.

I stress clean and rust free, because in painting, if you paint over shit, you get painted over shit.

Another nifty way to do this: do the gas soak thing (remember to smoke), then hand sand them. Not only will it get rid of the dirt, it will remove some or all of those nasty casting marks. Painting is all in the PREPARATION! And remember, you pay shipping both ways. If shipping is, say, $15.80 one way, include a $20, and you will get the change back with the calipers.

Smitty, pm me with your real name, address, etc, and I will send you, at my expense, both ways, what I can do with a casting that is WAY MORE complicated than a brake caliper before you commit to this. I'll send you a "confidence builder."

I don;t see why someone that did a big break upgrade could not lend us a hand for the fronts...

Then we can chip in for the rears and put them in rotation..

What ya think Chris, Dave, guys?

dfreder370 I am continually impressed with your knowledge and willingness to help people out.

Do you have anything that would come close to Aegean Blue? I might take you up on the offer before the cold stuff comes.

i second that cuz i just can't find the time to work on the calipers currently on the car and would b willing to pay more $$ for the convenience

now, as far as the rims color goes, the black satin finish on the GT3's is what i was looking for...

Scooter: you looking more for, lack of a better term, anthricite, or the pictures of my rims by Smitty, which are chrome, but dark?

Trying to answer a lot of questions here from a lot of people. This is a not for profit thing by me.

All I need is clean calipers and the dough for me to return them to you as you see fit.

The reason I offer this is simple. I often work Saturdays, catching up on reports and paperwork. But I have access to all my equipment. Powder coating 4 calipers will probably take up five minutes of my time. Masking, making hanging hooks out of coat hangers. Really simple stuff. Then I put them in an oven at the proper temperature, and disappear for an hour, and go get my work done. An hour later, I take them out, let them cool, and send them back. No big deal.

And, I do not have to pay for paint. I get it free as samples. And I know how to pick the correct paint for the correct service area. Wheel paint needs to be different than trunk paint, because of different service conditions.

So, why haven't I published pictures of my handiwork, my powder coated calipers? It's because I am spending most of my time supervising the install of a $997,000 powder coating line for the company, and they make it possible for me to pay the bills (and buy new cars...)
