I installed an exhaust system, Intake and headers when I was 15 in an explorer.

You should be fine if you have a general DIY know how. And even if ya don't, you gotta start somewhere

What year is your CL?

Bumper removal was absolutely necessary and is not that hard. Have new plastic "rivets" on hand you will break some getting them off.

I got mine out by taking off the drivers side tire and inner fender well. I had to basically reach up in there and pull on it to see where all the screws were. The one screw on the engine side of the resonator was a pain. I never saw it. Just had to do it by feel. If I had to do it again I would look at taking the bumper off first. Sounds like the bumper thing might be a little easier to do.

here is a link to the one I got from ebay. It went in well. I offered him 25.00 + S/H. And he took my offer. Like I siad it fit well. I think I had to push the filter on a bit farther than normal to get it to fit in the bumper. No biggie. if that bothers you, you can always cut about 1 1/2 to 2 inches off the filter end of it. Oh one more thing if you get this one. The rubber coupler has a metal sleeve for it, make sure you use it. You'll see why. I also only had to use one of the two yellow hoses that were included.

Yea, as others have said, just remove the driver side inner fender and you can get the old resonator out of there. That's how I installed my Icebox.

And don't be scurred about doing the install. Take your time, and if you get frustrated, walk away and take a deep breath. Just make sure you have a ratchet with 10mm, 12mm and 14mm sockets, a phillips head, a flat head, and pliers (for those pain in the ass plastic rivets on the inner fender, you should replace them).

Its a metal tube, air will flow through it. The name brand is not going to make it flow better!

I have stock exhaust so you can really hear the engine pur. The roar is great. Vtec is very cool with that intake.

Besides a Icebox, or the P2r, they are all just a metal tube. What is a name brand going to do for you? Besides a name, and costing a shit load more! It's not rocket science.

There are no welds to crack, no moving parts, just a metal tube.
Just my opinion.

Just wondering what tube you are talking about the is a pain to remove?

cai is nothing to install. don't need no special name brand tube. hell the intake i made for my supercharger we made at my best friends shop. 4 inch filter, 4 inch pipe all the way to tb on sc.

P2R makes an intake for the 6speed. Its what I got on my car. Very happy with it, and its very rare. I did pay $$$ for it though. I did a dyno test on my car with it this summer check it out.

IDK how you guys are trying to take the resonator out. I got it off on 3 CL's in minutes just by taking the fender lining out(not even out only pulled back) & jacking the car up a little.

Taking out the resonator on my CL-Pee was a huge pita though because it's a lot more bulky and cumbersome than the type-s'.

Nonetheless i was 17 when i installed my CAI, with relatively little experience working on cars. the OP should be fine.

Short ram = Hot engine bay air.

CAI = cooler air from outside the engine bay.

Actually there is another option for a 6 speed. I bought an AEM CAI on Ebay that was for an automatic. The only difference is the top side that attaches to the intake is longer for a 6 speed. I went to an industrial shop and they had 3" rubber tubing the same as what AEM uses to attach the CAI to the intake and cut it to the length I needed. Also you could call AEM or whatever unit you by and they could cut one for you too.. Just a thought.
