Another Z28 Down

Ok, ok I don't know the deal with people who own these cars, maybe they can't drive or maybe those cars just suck and only a few live up to their quoted performance. But I'm coming home from school on the 101 and two lanes to enter highwya. I gun it on the right lane and this Z28 with his bitch in the front follows. I knew it was on because he thought he was the shit, so as we all merge to one lane to enter highway I close the sunroof move to SS3 at 45mph, and turn off AC. Soon as the wall ends I start cutting right to left lane with him right on my ass doing about 50 right now I drop it to SS2, car goes to 6000rpm and I take off, I bang third once hard and it just takes off from there to 120 I went. He stayed with me from 50 to 80 about and then I Was gone once I was getting up in 3rd. Well I won but I'm still pissed about the fucking rock chip in my car from earlier this morning. Oh BTW as I was getting off my exit about 5 miles later I waited for this punk to pass and I just turned and started clapping and being a real dick, That was wrong but I was in such a bad mood. That is what is called a ricer flyby. How do you know "it was on because he thought he was the shit".

He wasn't racing because 50+ is where the F-Bodies shine.

Dude, com'n don't insult my intelligence, this was not a ricer fly-by on the count of he was staring at me when we both turned into our different lanes, he stayed on my ass the whole 1/4 mile behind traffic getting on the on ramp, and he moved over first to gun it and i moved right as he was moving, so don't tell me that. And no I don't know what happened I don't know what an F series means, but maybe there is a slow verison of this car it was a Hardtop Silver, no SS, and he stayed with me till 80 but then I started pulling, maybe he couldn't get around me to 80 and he wasn't gunning it full blast but why did I take him after 80 where he couldn't stay on my ass anymore, hey maybe he didn't want to race past that speed cause I went well into the triple digit zone. That is not my fault. I'm just posting what happen

He wasn't racing you after 60 MPH or so. I've gotten whooped by these Z28s after 60MPH or so in my M3 5-speed.

OK FINE FINE, I'm always looking for races so maybe he just shut it off after 80 becuase i'm a nut. Who knows i'm just posting what I thought happen and what really happen. But I guess y'all are right. I know the times for those cars are insane, I just fiugred the drivers sucked ass. One other thing the came to mind could it have been a V6 with a Z28 badge on it?

All this and you wonder why he was staring at you except for wanting to race???

Not trying to flame, but if that was a V8, he wasn't racing. Good driving really doesn't enter the equation from a highway roll.

BTW - an "F-body" is a name for Camaros, Firebirds and TransAms.

pga,
Sometimes these F-bodies take a while to wind up so you might be able to hang or edge out the car.....that's a big maybe. I played with one the other day.......see my post on the firebird GTA. Those fbody V8s usually are real monsters up top so the guy may have been playing around with you. But, I'll take your word for it.

I was assuming that he was racing a newer Camaro. The older generation F-Bodies don't hold a candle to today's LS1. That GTA is like 240/340 advertised, but the LS1 goes about 340/360...

Yeah cause he started First and I knew he would kill be if he got the jump, So i was aaanticpating the jump. If his car was so fast he would have been able to get around me

"...as I was getting off my exit about 5 miles later I waited for this punk to pass..."

What does that have anything to do with it, The "race" lasted for about 3/4 mile to a mile. As I was getting off my exit 5 miles later I slowed down and waited for him.

"...I went well into the triple digit zone..."
Just stating maybe he didn't want to go that fast, that's not my fault at all.

And no it wasn't a new one, I really know nothing about these cars it had to be maybe 97-99. For all I know, it could have been a V6 1999 Camaro with a Z28 badge. I hate these cars so I never looked into them. I don't know, just stating what happen in the race. Maybe it was that V6, Who knows his situation, but it def started off as a race and he was def. agressive about it, so I raced. Is it my fault if i'm crazier

Take a while to wind up? It is a V8 with low/mid torque and pull! Just like the 911 story. There is no way a CL or CL-S can hang with these cars on the highway if they even remotely trying.

In this case PGA is right it was probably a V6.

Someone else told me that today. I don't like the looks and how loud they are. But they said they are great performance cars. Speed and handling? is this true?

Make sure it is an older one. No mods. And an auto.

Come to an Autocross at Firebird...you'll get more than your share of F-bodies, Vettes, 911s, and M3s to take on.

Make sure its a V6 auto, then you'll win. Against an LT-1 or an LS-1 you have no chance.
