Another 3.0 vs Mustang V6

Alrighty, I'm still driving down the road after this:

http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...hreadid=119120

and I see a red Mustang coming up behind me fairly quick. Dood passes me, he's prob my age, 18 or so. It's just the V6. I switch lanes and get behind him. I get behind him at a stoplight and he pushs it fairly good when it hits green, and so did I - but I almost ran over his ass when I hit VTEC. I doubt he pushed it all the way but I dunno.

I was hoping he'd hop on the freeway, but I notice he's got bama tags and that would put him going the opposite way if he was heading back home. But instead, he takes the onramp in my direction. It's the cloverleaf design, and some old gheser in a huge ass caddy is holding up the line going like 20. Well, we get off the ramp and he punchs it and zooms out past the caddy and gets over two lanes. I proceed to do the same and get over one lane beside him. We're going about 70 at this time and I hear him put it down (and I should know, my last car had the same engine - I know what it sounds like ) and I pull it down to 3rd. I pull one car on him by 90 and two by 110.

So I dunno about from a stop, but I know on the free way that we've got the upper hand. At least in this case...

Yup, it was the newer style. I still can't figure out how the old ones only had 150hp - b/c that is the exact same setup that was in my Taurus (same intake manifold, TB, etc). The only difference I could find was that I had a true dual exhaust with my police package. My car was rated at 225hp, 215tq. I def smoked a few of the older V6 stangs in it. Belive it or not tho - that car isn't as fast as my CL. I think it's the gearing. It was geared for hiway power, not really stoplight smoking material. Either way, I like my CL much better...now for some mods...hehe GT stangs here I come...

Well, most people here w/ second gen cars would say that about mine too, so I figured I'd throw him a bone.

I don't think that's quite right. I guy I went to school with had a 95 V6 stang. He had some Ford stuff on the car that said 150hp. He had to bring it to show me b/c I told him the same thing, that they all had like 190hp, etc, etc. He said he wished it had that much...

The old 3.1 liter engines are 160 hp, how is a 3.8 liter less than that? Im telling you they are no less than 190 horse after 94.

Ehhhhhh...wrong.

94-96 V6 Mustang = 145hp/215tq
97-98 V6 = 150hp/215 tq
99+ V6 = 193hp/220tq

Supposedly the 04+ V6's will have the Duratec V6, and make 220-250hp, with a like amount of tq.

The Taurus 3.8 NEVER had 200hp, let alone 225hp. Thew police package was I believe 19lb vs. 14lb injectors, larger fuel tank, heavy duty suspension pieces, and no speed limiter. It may have been rated 5-10hp more than the standard 3.8L, but no more.

Oh, and the 3.8L Taurus & Mustang are both horribly slow. A stock 94-98 V6 5 speed runs like mid 15's, and the automatic is like mid 17's. The Taurus is like high 17's/low 18's. :o

Holy hell, whats the point of having a 3.8 in there (besides torque) if its only making that amount of horsepower. Im glad Ford is starting to get their heads out of their asses.

Out-damn-standing!!
That is probably my proudest job yet :
My fiance's mom has a 02 Mustang...one of the V6's. After modding my CL to where it is now, I was talking to her dad about it and he just couldn't imagine my car beating the stang.
I was cockier than shit, because I've been taking down some V6's lately and I figured, if I can take a cougar, I have a chance against the stang (mostly because it's auto).
SUre enough, we had to have gone for almost half a mile before he started coming up on me.
Beating an oldfart and a stang at the same time was puuure bliiiiiis.
