Am I trapping the way I should?

I am bone stock, down to the tires. I've read about guys trapping 98mph, and Honda Tuning's CLS-6 featured in this month's article trapped 97.9mph stock. But I don't know what anybody else runs for tires on those runs.

Here's my best timeslip to date (out of 5 runs):

Given stock rubber, should I be trapping higher?

Forgot to mention, I ran at near-sea-level altitude!

your trapspeed seems about right for a stock 6 speed, but the 60ft is your problem

You either bogged or hopped pretty bad I'm guessing? Either way your 60' is hurting your trap speed because you cant get on the power soon enough off the line. With my dr's I went from 96.5mph stock to 98.5mph, altho the weather was cooler and I had more miles.

Get the 60' down to a more respectable low 2.3X level and I bet it gets above 97mph.

edit: saw in your other thread that you hit 97mph, but the et was not as fast. Your car is making 220whp, which is normal. Go get some drag radials, intake, headers, and maybe some suspension to limit wheelhop and you'll have a 13.9 @ 100mph car if you can drive.

OK that's sort of what I thought.

I can't hook this car up for the life of me.

As for the intake, that's already on order and should be here next week. But I won't be modding the car any more after that. Headers are too expensive for my financial priorities at the moment for the good stuff (Comptech), and I don't want to bother with the bottom-end OBX stuff.

jtkz13: What kinda DR's do you have? BFG KDWs ?

Yeah, I was shifting more agressively on that one run!

225/45/17 BFG G-Force dr's. Still need to buy some lightweight 17's and try for 13's sometime this fall.

Not nearly as much so as the Nitto's I've had. They have a very soft sidewall & tread compound, so they wouldnt be great DD tires. I didnt really drive in the rain with them tho, but obviously they are designed to drag race so they wont be great tires for the street in all conditions.

In the dry they of course are very grippy, but the sidewalls are soft and they are shorter than stock, so they dont have the handling response of a normal tire and they cause the speedo to be a bit off on the highway.

I envy you 6-speeders. I ran 15.2@90 stock. Stupid auto. Motor Trend claimed 14.7@97 for stock TL-S. Bleh.
