i havent seen this .. wow back lit would be fly!

I am sure that depending on the design of these sills, .. certain tweaks (such as puttin very tiny bulbs in the lettering gaps and hooking them up to the same fuse that causes the dome lights to turn on when the doors are opened) could be made to put some back-lighting on these too

well... theres plenty of factors in the debate.

the biggest... the plastic the sills will sit upon.

rest assured... whatever we go with will be what delivers us the best blend of quality/durability/longevity/aesthetics.

cost will remain the same in either case.

the statement that they would be "taped on crap" is foolish... the adhesive application is even more widely used then the screw on application. most car manufacturers who put sills on from the factory use the adhesive type.

I'm intrested, however a few questions:

1) If screw mounted, will this mean drilling into ONLY the plastic existing sill? Or into the plastic and through to the metal door frame?

2) Will the font be the ACURA type font? Or just some standard font? Can we get it like the NSX font? (But of course to say ACURA)

I woud LOVE to see these ASAP. I am already thinking up ways to backlight them.

Thanks

Someone on the TL board did indiglo stock door sills. I think ACURA lit up and it looked really good. Might want to do a search on it

Yes, the screw in type are only viable if they screw into the plastic only. No metal to metal screwing.

The font will be standard Acura font.

What do you mean backlight them...how would you do that with a aluminum door sill? I'm confused, please clarify...

Well, Simple. I would drill out the ACURA lettering, then file them out so the ACURA lettering is hallow. Next, I will install some 1/8" Plexiglass under the sill (between the new sill and the plastic stock sill) to protect the lettering holes. Then, I would add some Street Lights Tape indaglow lighting under it, but so it is not seen, however the glow is seen through the lettering. Of course this is all theory, and will need to be done as-I-go. If there is enough space for a 6" neon tube, then I will use that.

Another thought would be more simple, When installing the sill, instead of mounting it flush with the plastic sill, Use 4 or 6 small washers on each edge, which will allow the new sill to hover above the plastic sill, then you can add the tape-like lighting underneath it so it glow out of all 4 edges. Like I said, this is all theory as of now.

Hey, count me in on a set of those!! How do I get them? Are they a tight fit and don't rub?

They look nice. Think it would look good on a red car with parchment interior?

Thanks!
