aluminum interior kit

i was wondering if you guys think that an aluminum dash kit would go well with a tan/beige leather interior on a 2001 cl-s? btw, i have a brown wood trim in my car, is there anyway to change that to aluminum also?

Not with the beige, man! That's probably why you never see it from the factory. You always see wood!

yea thats what i was thinking...damn, i wish i had a darker interior i like the aluminum so much better. imo, the wood just seems like its for older people. i've been wanting to repaint my car because both bumpers need repainting and theres a bunch of deep scratches and dents here and there around the car that would basically require the whole panels to be repainted (bought the car like that from a relative). if i had a darker interior i could get away with painting it silver, but i was thinking about painting it monterrey blue pearl. you think a tan interior would look ok with that color?

Although I'm very partial to Aegean Blue Pearl...

i like that color also, but the people at the body shop i went too said with a tan interior it'd be better to go with a dark color paint.

My brother has a 745 IL and believe it or not it has a mix of darker wood, similar to the wood in the CL, tan leather, and brushed alluminum. They all come together to make up the nice interior in the car. I would think that an alluminum dash kit would look good with parchment and wood.

On a drive this evening, I came to a realization I guess I never really noticed... The shifter plate in my car is a kind of brushed aluminum. (I have an '01 CL-S 5AT NBP w/ beige int.) After some consideration, I'm retracting my previous statement! If you could get rid of ALL the wood in the car and change it to match the shift gate, I think it would actually look pretty classy. And thinking a little more about it, I think I've seen some cars at a recent (new) car show that have interiors like this. I honestly can't remember exactly what cars they were but I think I do remember seeing that 7-seires BMW like that. If I remember correctly, it was a pretty nice interior. So there, I stand corrected. Furthermore, I'd rather seet in aluminum than painted. IMO. If you do it, post some pics, I'd like to see it!

Damn man. that's what I need...

Oh well, guess I'll just have to stick w/ my nasty ass bowling ball trim. People seem to like it when they sit in the car.

thats a nice interior there 123456speed. I wish could eventually get the 03 steering wheel, new seat covers and the silver trim, and a 6 speed while i'm at it, lol. here's mine, and btw, the silver won't look bad on the beige interior, its the rest of the Faux wood that will mess it up. Some will cringe, but i believe a nice bronze dash kitwould be sweet. It would have to be real to be pimp tho/.

I just installed my REAL brushed alluminum kit today, and I have Parchment interior with wood..... It looks way better then I thought it would. I took this chance because my brother has the 745IL with tan leather, dark wood, and alluminum finishes. If they put it in that car then I thought it should look great in my car... so after all that worrying, It turned out awsome. I will post pics whenenver I can Buiyahkah.

I can't wait to see it too. All this talk about it is making me REALLY antsy to see it and I'm the guy who said.. Go figure. If it looks half as good as it does in 123456spd's car, I might just do it too!

i wonder if it would still look as good if i didn't have the stock radio anymore. i'm thinking about using an aftermarket because my cd changer keeps jamming up and giving me an Err-E1 message. acura referred me to an independent shop that fixes the bose radio and they said it'd cost $110-225 to fix it and they'd need a few days to do it.

Seems like a waste of $ to if you're even considering changing the HU.

waste of money to get the dash kit? i dont see why because theres only one piece i wouldn't be using and thats the piece that goes over the radio. if you're talking about fixing the bose, i wouldn't fix it if i got a new HU.

I ment a waste to fix the HU if you're considering replacing it with something better. I guess the way I see it is if your considering it now, even after you have it fixed, you still might replace it in the future. Just my 2cents..

oh ok, yea i wouldn't waste my money fixing the bose if i got a new HU...there'd be no point in that. at first i thought you meant a waste to get the aluminum kit. if i got a new HU, i'd probably try to sell the bose as a "fix it project" on ebay or something anyways...

Since I've changed my mind, I have begun a search for some used/salvaged ones, including the door panels and rear quarters. I really want to try this but I don't want to ruin the originals. I think I'm going to try paint once I find them. HAHA, all this coming from the guy who first said !

Just as an FYI, they are over 1k+ new for all the parts, so it won't be cheap, even if they are in a junk CL. And most places usually want to sell the whole interior, they don't like parting out stuff. As if it isn't hard enough to find parts for our car in junkyards

I found a wrecked one on ebay that had the seats for sale in it for $4.99. Looking at the pics, I saw the car had all the pieces in it I was looking for so I emailed them about it. I still haven't goten a reply but we'll se what they tel me. I certainly won't be paying more than $100 for them, especially since the interior in that car is trashed.. I'd rather leave mine alone until I see someone else with it done to find out if I think it looks good or not.

go here and see if it's what you need... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW . I don't want the seats, I need the "bowling ball" looking trim pieces. That's all I emailed them about.

Wait...you need the dark woodgrain interior pieces? Are you willing to trade for them?

It's just the pieces that i am looking for. My car actually has parchment int.. I just want to buy some used ones so I don't screw up my (brown) woodgrain trim in the car. I want to try painting them or something similar. I want to do this to the ones I buy so if it looks like crap, I'm not forced to use it. I'm not willing to trade unless you want brown wood grain for the aluminum look... If that's what you have, which i'm assuming you don't.

There is the OEM version from Acura which you need to buy as a set...and that's expensive.

Others on this site have gotten them from swapping, buying (lucky), or applying a vinyl sticker that goes over top I believe.

Yep, got the 2001 CL-S with the standard black woodgrain interior trim. And yes, I'd love to get my hands on the aluminum stuff...

I found this kit , http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/ho...m=&camoflauge= , but the frustrating part is that it does not come with the door and rear quarter pieces. If I don't find something soon, I'm gonna be a quitter... I may give up.

Ok, so I finally got in touch with the place that has the seats for sale on ebay. He said he has to wait until the end of the auction before he can do anything. He said the person that purchases the seats on ebay has first dibs on the rest of the interior. BTW, Jaun, is that you biding on the seats? The guy said to call him on the 18th to see if the trim is still in the car to be purchased. Sounds like he will try to cut me a deal if they are still in it when all is said and done.

i just looked at the 7 series online also and i actually think that aluminum in a beige/tan interior looks pretty good...i think i'm just gonna cover up the wood trim with brushed aluminum vinyl and order the real aluminum dash kit from somewhere and go thru with this project some time...
