What's the big deal? Did anyone read the article on page 20 of the same magazine?
Plus I will agree with the test results, I almost purchased a 3.5 SE until I test drove it. Overboosted steering, crappy interior and touchy brakes and gas.
I have seen questionable statements in all the car magazines. It's called marketing, hell the news does it too.

CL-S is slower than SRT4, Altima, Maxima, G35, G35c, 350Z and they all cost less. Man, whats wrong with Acura.
The Altima is so fast cause it comes with a stripped down interior stock:ghey: :ghey: :pee: Altima.

Altima is terrible.
I don't know if the Altima has a better 0-60 time or not but who cares? The 5 speed shifts like crap. Its more american than Japanese like in that respect. Also there is no HLSD. Does'nt handle nearly as well. Its junk. Ever drive one?
#64
Why is there such a big stink about MT calling the Altima the fastest FWD car that they tested so far? Also, how much money did Nissan pay them to fabricate the road test results?

I went to check out an Altima 3.5 SE manual the other day. the door panel plastic cut my finger when I was trying to close the door for a test drive. guess what, I opened the door again, walked out the car and headed home with my wife. The interior plastic is a joke.
Oh, did I mention the sunglass pouch does not open? My wife had to use her finger nail to get it open.
Nissan makes a lot of junks!!! Nissan is cheap too...

Well, if someone looked at that test result...the 4spd auto only ran a 15.4. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but lets compare apples to apples...the CL-S auto runs a 14.9-15.0 stock in the 1/4. Again, I think Nissan is overstating their power outputs...or their trannys are worse than ours...

CLS also has a 15-20hp advantage over the Alt 3.5SE. Now I would say look at the 2K2 Maxima (which I have); with "255hp" I was able to run 14.7XX several times.
However, the auto CLS's (and TLS's) closest Nissan competitor is probably the Infiniti I35. (since Nissan has no FWD/V6 Coupe) Head-to-head, the acceleration times would be really close.
As for the Altima's cheap interior, it's the primary reason why I (and a few other Maxima.org guys) purchased the Maxima instead. But there's no denying that it's quick.

Time to get rid of CL and get something else like G35, 350Z, EVO8 or STI. CL is slower than all the competitions and handle/braking like shit. Tranny problems. It also cost more. Shit, what's wrong with Honda/Acura!!!

...and that's a definite advantage with the TLS/CLS. With the CLS, there's no problem keeping it straight off the line. I have to countersteer-left to keep the Max straight because of it serious surge of lowend power.

my car pulls pretty straight, unless i'm on a rutted road. in that situation i've nearly had the steering wheel ripped out of my hand from the side to side movement.
vtec is not safe in the ruts.

actually if the idiots put premium fuel in the accord v6 coupe, it should have been the fastest fwd, they have ever driven!!
according to the vtec.net article, the auto dynos with the same HP, and torque of a CLS auto with 200 pounds less weight(195HP and 174ft/lbs). So when the manual gets dynoed, it'll probably have the same numbers as the CLS6spd, with about 200+ less weight. It should do sub 14.4, and best the altima!
this is a direct quote taken from the message boards of vtec.net, by the guy who tested the cls6spd:
"It's interesting to note that Motor Trend returned a corrected 14.5@99 from the 6-spd Accord. We obtained a 14.5@96 for the CL-S 6-spd in nasty conditions, which corrects to a 14.2@98.
If you ignore the ET's and look at the trap speeds, it certainly seems that the Accord would have at least as much potential as the CL-S. And since it is 100 lbs lighter or so with similar hp, it may indeed be a bit quicker."
