Almost there! test fitted wheel samples...

I finally got the clay samples for design approval, and test fitted them for caliper clearance... I also photoshopped the wheels onto the car to get a general idea of how they will look. I can't wait to get them in. I also widened the applications to include the 2004 TL, check out the specs below. now it's gonna take a month or so to recieve the real prototype and the production pieces.

Subaru's require the higher offset too, i think they are either 48 or 53 depending on model. 5x100 though.

I'll wait to do Subies, right now I just want to focus on Acura, and a little of Honda. I have a forged wheel going to be available for the 2004 TL A-Spec, 2003 CL-s and TL-s, NSX and S2000 rounding out the line-up.

If this takes off quickly enough, I'll dedicate a whole new set of designs and finnishes for another car manufacterer.

by the way, this is a new design I'm gonna do in 3 months. it's a deep dish! Yay!

two small issues with deep dish, the width would have to increase to 8" and the offset would have to lower to at least 48mm to have a decent sized lip like the axis models. at that point, you would run the risk of rubbing, which is what I'm trying to avoid. maybe the next wheel above will have slightly different specs to allow the dish. thanks by the way.

yeah, RonJon wheels, ltd. is the name of the corp which is different than ronjon surf shop. It's like axis the computer company and axis wheels, two different industries and the same name. anyway, glad you guys like the designs, the production got nudged a bit due to the additional widths ordered for the 04 TL, but it was worth it, I've been getting alot of calls for that particular vehicle. I used to work for rim companies doing their ads in dupont, lowrider, truckin, all the mags. then I just started doing suff for myslef and invested well earned cash.

Dawm... I really like this one. When will they be available and how much for a set? And will they come in 7 1/2 x 17 and fit the brembo calipers on my 03 CLS? If so, what offset? I've got the CT drop.

the offset for the 01-03 cl-s is going to be 48mm, to give the deep dish some room and to clear aftermarket brakes. that's two mm less than the other models in the line-up. now I don't think they will be offered in 17", but they will available in 18"x7.5 and 19"x7.5, as well as 18"x8.5 and 19"x8.5. I'll keep you updated.

here's a list of estimated pricing, it will only get less expensive when a group buy is arranged, by around 10%-15% less. I still have to calculate shipping, and tire mounting /balancing according to the distributor who I will contract out to.

but the axis wheel's lip is fake , because the spokes bent in. to have the REAL lip size, the rims have to be at least 8.5 width with 40 or below offset to have like 2" lip. and of course it depends on the design. are you going to make any staggered setup for RWDs with like 3 or 4" lips?? if so how long? wanna sponser me a set? hehe =)

Meant to ask earlier. Are all these wheels forged? I'm only interested in forged wheels.

thanks...

sorry, I was oing to do multi piece forged wheels, but the pricing was going to be rediculously high, like more than $700 per wheel for 19", and no 18" available. Doesn't seem like the right price range for a $30k car. I am going to add a forged wheel in the future, for the NSX, S2000, and new Rl and TL.

budget, and it seemed like a performance oriented wheel, with light weight minimalist design. my logic told me that 19" is m ore for style rather than performance. but if it shows promise, I may expand it's options.

rondog,

You seem to be a master wheel craftsmen. Would you mind addressing a few questions:

1) The OEM rims on my 03 CLS are 17X7 55mm offset. So if I wanted to go with 18x8 rims, what should the offset be.

2) I've got the CT drop and would like to put on 245/40ZR18s. Is this feasibly with 18x8 rims without haven't to modify the felder wells?

the offset for any wheel should be between 45-55mm, and the width won't effect the offset. now the width will interfere with the suspension components, like the arms and springs if the width excedes 8.5inches, or the tires go larger than 245. at this point, 245 is gonna rub somwhere no matter what the offset. if the offset is too low, the tire will rub the fender or the inside of the wheel well when turning. if the offset is higher, like a 50-55, it may run the risk of touching the suspension. the only true way to know is to test fit it.

Got_3.2, I may do lamorena if I don't sell the design first, or if i do a luxury wheel brand. but now I want to focus on this company and making fresh wheels, both style and engineering.
