almost got killed today!!!!!!!!!!!

i am very glad to be alive right now. i was on the highway today, probably doin around 60 when my trans went out without warning. i was putting a cd in when all of the sudden the rpm's redline, my tires lose traction and the car spins out. the car spun around three times before it stopped facing oncoming traffic and blocking the fast and center lane. when i looked up there was a truck headed right for me, luckily he swirved and missed. i called roadside and they came and towed the car. the dealer gave me a rental untill the car is fixed.

so when i get home and call acura to complain the bastard totally blew me off, as if nothing big has happened. i already had a case file with acura because i wasnt happy with my rattles and brake problems, they offerd me 1000 dollar trade in incentive, i told them to no way, so i call back after thjis happens and he was being a complete jerki. i asked him what if i got in an accident and got hurt or god forbid got killed then what? he had no reponse
i told him i no longer felt safe in the vechile, again no response.
i told him the value of my car will never be the same after i replace the tranny, and the bastard had the nerve to tell me theat in his opion my car is now worth more with a replaced tranny.

Get rid of that lemon before it becomes your coffin. Document all the problems and seek legal counsel to get Acura's attention that your are serious about this cancer that grow within your Cl. My motto is Oppresor De Liber!!

adfeek28 - i'm sure that must have been the scariest ride in ur life but dont expect any special treatment from ur dealer. As far as ur concerned, ur just one of many whose tranny went out.
They dont care for u personally... they're scums who only care about MONEY

If they're real bitches about it then ditch ur acura and go get a lexus. Then send a nice long letter to the dealer and everyone above it on how u and no one in ur family will ever buy an acura again. Losing customers is the last thing they want and thats exactly what they'll get.

Anyway - Good luck with it

Here's what you have to do to get their attention and preserve your rights later on: file a complaint with NHTSA, they have opened an investigation on this vehicle. The more numbers and complaints they have, the better. I will try and get you the name/# of a guy I know there that specializes in these types of complaints (George . . .?)

Do it, dude. File that complaint like Chief says. What's it take, one of dead on the highway to get some respect from Acura? Granted the dude on the phone was just some dope who really dones't care what job he has but your life is more valuable than his response. At least now they're replacing the trannies w/o much question. File that complaint, you'll sleep better and it will help your lemon case. LOL.... Lemon case. Damn, I'm talkative today.

damn dude...glad you were able to walk away from the situation and talk about it. Three spins!!! This w/o warning tranny failure sounds pretty freaking scary. I'll make sure I have both hands on the steering wheel at all times while driving.

How did the car spin from the Tranny dying?
Did you try to change lanes or something?

Just wondering because that’s what happened to someone else here and they tagged the center barrier too.
They overcorrected and spun out.

Im glad you are alright. My dad was in a suit with GM over his Tahoe... Many tranny problems. they kept blowing him off till he got a lawyer and made a official complaint. Then they called dialy trying to resolve the issue with payoff of vehicle and it was new..... he got extended warany coverage and it was paid off....

Report it to the NHTSA!!!!

If you need the any info for reporting, go to the Tansmission Problems posts -- Everything you need to know is in the sticky at the top in the fourth post.

Did you have any warnings at all -- tranny slipping, noises, etc. before it went out?

Good luck.

I'm guessing the front tires lockup violently, lose traction, and the back wheels can't do anything as no brake pressure (ABS) is applied?

This tranny lockup happened to 1999-2001 4speed TLs too, causing them to spin.

Glad you're OK, but definitely file with the NHTSA as has already been mentioned. They have an investigation open concerning our POS trannies and this is further proof that these trannies are a safety hazard.

Is that guy the one heading the NHTSA investigation of our trannies? I believe his contact info was posted in the tranny forum, but don't remember if that's it. If so, adfeek28 should really have a little talk with him.

I'm glad that u are ok. Although all I see Acura doing is offering to purchase back the car and give u the value of the car minus the usage fee, I believe it is (purchase price of the vehicle / 120K) x (milage) . That will then tell u how much the dealer is gonna take off of the purchase price of the vehicle when u 1st bought it, total will be how much u are gonna get back.

Shit like that sucks cause I really think that the dealer can still make money off of a lemon. I don't believe that they can sell it back on their lot. I believe that they have to sell it to a used car dealer.
