All the good things I said about OBX...

I wish I never said. I got an exhaust leak the other day and I just figured that a header bolt had worked its way loose from the intense AZ summer heat...oh no I was dead wrong. The pice of $hit CRACKED!!

So now tomorrow I'm going to call the folks down at OBX and attempt to get them conved by waranty. But I'm not going to hold my breath because I've heard stories that OBX does not honor poor welding. :sqntfawk:

I'm not trying to start annother OBX vs. CT war, I just wanted to vent a little.

funny ... this may be the third or fourth thread I've read in the past year or so about cracked OBX's... have YET to read about a cracked CT header ... even the guys that bought 'em used...

hope you get your money back or a new set of headers (more likely) ..

I just installed my OBX SS headers a few weeks back.

They killed my O2 sensor. Don't ask how, because I have no clue.

There's metal tinging noises at 1500-1600 RPM and again at 2500 RPM. Two focking resonance spots. My car sounds like an 80's Ford Escort.

Other than that, they are alright. They helped me knock off a full half a second in the quarter.

if they are rattling and sounding like compleate shit then you may have some loose header bolts.

Yeah, that was my guess. So I retightened all the bolts on the system and it's still there. In fact, it got worse when I tightened them again. And yeah, they are torqued to spec. Not down to the last ft-lb, but close enough.

It almost sounds like there's a piece of metal inside the pipes that jumps around. That would be some f-ed up shit.

Well, I do know that 2500 RPM is a resonating spot for our engines. Can't do much about that.

As for the metal noise, I've been squeezing my brain out lately to figure out a possible solution. I haven't come up with anything yet, but I'll be sure to post if I find anything out.

Well, at least I know I'm not the only one with this problem. Welcome to the club, my friend.

after the blower, i have NO resonance where i used to have ALOT. The comptech icebox and pulley helped lower the noise too. Blower took care of it completely!

its good to know other ppl have simliar problems lol.

the resonace sounds i can deal with, but the metal noise is extremely anooying. the noise is very loud, ppl always stare at me when im driving in the parking lot.

as far as the OBX warranty goes, you need to have the original sales reciept. I bought it from a friend who runs a online importshop, so i guess im screwd on the warranty :[

had that clanking noise when i first installed my OBX, disappeared after a few days. Don't know how or what happened. Then had an exhaust leak at the flange where the pipe connects to the Cat. Unbolted and realigned everything again, seemed to help but t on day I noticed my left muffler fuckn shifted and was hanging way low. I was fed up w/ it even though I was feeling the extra power. got rid of them after a month.
