no its the factory alarm. if you lock the car with the pad it turns the alarm on. to deactivate it you have to use the pad. so if you use the key to unlock the car the alram will go off. i went on out of town with my keys but i want my gf to use my car. she has the spare so if she unlocks the car the alarm will go off. i know theres a way to turn the alarm off after you unlock the car with the key but i forgot how.

Open the car, pop the hood, pull the battery cable.

Unlocking with the key should disable the alarm. I think there's a sensor in the lock cylinder. Also I believe starting the car with the key will turn it off it it does go off with unlocking the door with the key.

Thats what I thought. If its a spare key, its still a chipped key so that should do the trick.

Bought a 2008 TL/AT just before I left on a 2+ week vacation. Battery was dead on my return. Checked with previous owner and they never disabled the HFL, so I'm sure it drained the battery. I trickle charged it back to life, but when I re-attached the battery cables, the alarm went off. Manually using the key on the driver's side to unlock/relock stopped the alarm within seconds...
