what does the resonator do? does it void my warranty if its out, and how much difference does it make when removed... ie sound and power gains?

 

Just rip the whole works out and get a Cold Air Intake.
For the effort required to remove the resonator alone, I wouldn’t expect much of a gain.

Wouldn't recommend taking just the resonator out (the whole purpose is to reduce 'resonation' and trust me it does what it supposed to do!!) and when I was messing around with my set up (before getting the CAI) I removed it, and the sound that the intake gave off was unbearable (not to mention the difference was either nil, or very, very, very minor, if anything at all).

If you plan on going the direction of a CAI, then I think it wouldn't be to bad to see for yourself, but if you don't plan on going that direction it's going to be a b#tch to put back in.
