When parked and the car in drive, the air conditioner compressor seems to be making a more ginding, erratic noise than usual. It almost sounds like the compressor?? or possibly the engine cooling fans are not running as smoothly as it should. The airconditioner works fine and when I shut off the compressor from the cockpit and leave the system on, the sound disappears. Anyone have this happen to them???????

 

I have the same, i think its normal.

 

There is definitely an underlying growl when the AC pump kicks on. I used to think an engine mount was bad or something but I did a test drive with a tech and pointed out the noise and they said everything was fine and operating normally. I've since heard from more and more people that the sound is normal.

By the way, has anyone noticed that sticker in the engine about some special oil for the AC motor/pump? I'm getting some kind of metallic humming when the AC pump kicks on and wondering if this needs to be flushed?

Very likey to be the belt tensioner, mine does the same thing when the Ac kicks on.

 

My compressor was making a lot of noise when It was kicking on with the car in gear. Turns out there was a probalem with the compressor. Dealer ordered new one. mine made almost a whining noise.

 

I have noticed I am getting a dripping into my floorboard. I have been told that I need to check the drain hose, but I have no idea where that is. I have a 97 CL. any help finding this damn hose would be awesome.
