Aftermarket Intake Manifold?

Has anyone built or tried building an aftermarket manifold similar to this:

I don't see it being impossible, just not easy. I've never had my manifold off, but if all the sensors were able to be hooked up correctly as well as vacuum lines, would this be a possible power adder or are the P2R plenums the way to go?

The best way to go is port and polish and possibly plenums if you don't mind spending the extra money. I don't think you would want to make a custom manifold because ours is well designed and if you have a type s you would loose the dual stage imrc that makes the the intake imo. I have personally ported and polished the intake manifold and lower runners (injector base) and it seems to have helped out a good amount. The only draw back is the work is tedious and could take a while if you don't have the right tools. I'm working on another set now to sell, they should be done by the end of the month and I'll post it on the BM.

It would not be that hard of a task if you were to keep the factory lower runners.
You would have to figure volume of the old manifold so you had some base numbers to go by.
Higher rpm engines will benifit from more volume.
Stock engines will be a dog till you get the rpms up.
Type s guy might not like losing their actuator / butterfly's to do this.
And if someone was to build something like this with the butterfly set up working properly I don't see them charging you less than a small fortune.
Even more volume for the clp/tlp guys and not be able to get the rpms up high enough to really make good use of a high volume intake would be a waste of money.well since the ecu don't let you to get rpms high at all.

Most guy's here would not need anymore than some plenum spacers for a little extra volume

Thanks for the info... I will keep researching... I like fabricating things & coming up with "one-offs" as long as it's not breaking the bank.

If you have a s ,it will break the bank to have it function correctly.
if not ,I say do it for the looks.
It's always sweet to have a one off piece.

That's what I figured... Either way, I'm going to look into this a little more. Debating if we could run a 2 runner similar to the current set up, but just a lot more sleek with a higher velocity and volume.
