After-Market NAV

A freind of mine is looking for an after-market nav system to put into his bus he just bought. Any suggestions? Which one is the best? Money is not an option.

Thanks for the help.

Also, who makes our unit?

here you go:

Start with the IVAD900 (Multimedia Station, 7" screen) add XM reviever, TUA-T021XM Module, add the PXA-H700 for 5.1 DTS Surround Sound Proceessor, and now you can add your PowerNav NVE-N852A.

Finally, how about a rear view mirror, the IVAD900 has an input for one

As an option you can add, CXAB200NK to link your Nokia Cell phone too

BTW, do not forget the 5 Speakers and 1 Sub for your 5.1 DTS.

I have the NAVMan ICN630. I got it for $786. It blows the Garmin away. I mounted the base in the tray over the radio so you dont see anything when it's out of the car. I use it all the time. Check it out - you won't be dissapointed.

Money, Money, and Money!!!

I would LOVE to get my wife the Alpine....but from what I've seen it is around $2000 (plus!).....WAY too much to spend to put in a '99 Explorer just for some convenience. I know she won't use it to it's potential.....just when she is going to a place in an area she doesn't know.

I use my Navi to find short cuts I didn't know about, to find stores and restaurants that are "off of the beaten path", etc as well as to navigate to areas I am unfamiliar with....I know my wife won't take the time to do that, so I can't justify spending $2000.

I'll post some pics tomorrow, as I am stuck at work tonight.

I didnt have to mount the antenna. It's flat and protudes out the back. By mounting in the tray, it has enough view to the window to get a perfect signal. Here's the best part though. They do sell an external antenna...one that mounts INSIDE the car on the windshield AND the unit is actually small enough to fit in the space where the sunglass holder is. Unlike the Garmin that has a bulky adapter, the pwr adapter is small, like a cell phone and can be wired direct.

It'll look awesome up in the sunglass holder if I ever get around to it. Look for the pics Thurs after 6pm EST.

PS - The link is to the cheapest place I could find - the price included FedEx shipping.

I was able to get the pictures up tonight after all. They were taken in daylight, so you can see the display is bright. When I am not using the NAV, I just detach from the tray and slide the tray back in. It'll look great when I get it in the sunglass holder.

Here is a link to the pics:

How about the Garmin Streetfinder III? It's under $800 and it's portable.

The NAVman beets out the Garmin all on aspects. I've used both.
The Navman is cheaper, smaller/lighter, MUCH better (and bigger) display(Garmin is only 16 color), better SAT tracking, better menus, operation, mounting options, and the speaker for voice instruction (which can be programmmed as a male OR female voice) is internal, not a big bulky speaker on the pwr adapter like the Garmin. And more importantly, you dont have to pay to unlock more regions, you get maps for the entire US that you can download to the unit, or to cheap SD memory cards. You dont have to buy expensive proprietary cards like the Garmin. Take a look at all the specs, you'll see what I mean. After using and comparing both, the Navman is a much better deal.
