After the 7yr/100k Warranty then What?
I was wondering after the 7yr/100k warranty and your tranny breaks how much would it cost to fix? Is there a lemon law like if your tranny breaks 4 times they replace your car with a new one?Can you purchase another 7yr warranty if you wanted to? any opionions would help thanks and bye.

I understand your concern, but you guys really need to draw the line SOMEWHERE on when Acura’s liability ends.
There are NO manufactures that cover parts past 100K.
Even if you found some kind of aftermarket warranty plan at that age I’m sure the premium would cost more then the car is worth.

When my tranny was replaced I asked my service manager what the cost would have been had it not been covered under the warranty. He told me it was around $3800!
I agree with Shawn in terms of there being a limit to warranty, but what happens if your tranny dies at like 90,000 miles and Acura puts a new one in under warranty...a few months down the road it dies again, but you've hit OVER 100,000 miles on your odometer? Answer is, Acura won't cover you under warranty again.
Hopefully Acura was able to "fix" the problem(s) regarding the auto tranny's, but I think I will unload my car (currently at 75,354 miles) to avoid having to take that risk. Plus I enjoy manuals waaay more.

Few things to keep in mind:
Dealers are responsible to resolve problems that are identified/occur under warranty, even after the warranty expires, for a reasonable amout of time.
Most dealers warranty work for a specific mileage/time.
If your trouble free tranny dies after 100k, you are probably out of luck.

If it were me, I'd try to sell it before you have problems. I worry about the untested clutch in my 6speed. The clutch is a major cost item too but is not covered under the warranty. So far so good. If it were to fail early I'd be mad it was not covered. Acura says it's a'wear and tear' item. Lucky for them I guess.
I know the majority of the auto trans are ok, but I would worry anyway at higher mileages.
I think that the resale value on the autos is going to be poor because of it. It seems the 2001 CLs value dropped dramatically in 2 years.

Cost should be down by then anyway. That $3800 price is a dealer price for dealer work hours which are high anyway. Be thankfull if you get 100K miles out of the tranny. I had a POS Lincoln the tranny went after 68K miles(auto)! The 2 Ford trucks I had(5 speeds) went at 71K, & 85K miles.

When mine was replaced the dealer said it would've cost $3500. Personally I'm going to keep my car way past 100K. I figure the car will be paid for and if it breaks again, highly unlikely since they claim to have fixed the problem, $3500 is a lot cheaper than a new car.

It's a great car otherwise. I'd get the VIN # take it to a dealer, & have them pull up the service record. If it's had a tranny replacment, it will show. Also call Acura & ask them if the car is covered under the 100K mile warranty for the tranny. Make sure it is before you buy it.
