sorry if this was covered in great detail but i did a search and could not find it.

anyway here goes.

what is the diff between the aem v2 and the aem cai in terms of

1. performance gains
2. sound.

any pros/cons with either one?

 

also, is this carb legal?

 

v2 sounds much louder and more agressive. Get that one!

 

they only make a V2 for the CL-P, it's not available for the CL-S

gains would be very similar either way. as in, a V2 equipped car isn't going to be faster than a normal AEM CAI equipped car.

yes they are carb legal

personally i would go w/ an injen CAI or a comptech icebox. i've had the aem (mounting bracket) break on me.

 

does anyone have a video clip of the aem v2 on their car? i want to hear how loud this thing gets

 

If you're looking for loud, the AEM CAI is plenty. I had the same problem Matt had with the mounting bracket breaking. I've heard the Injen is better. If all you're looking for is performance, then get the Icebox. It doesn't sound as loud, but I like it better than the AEM.

 

I have the V2 and it sounds like a V8 when the engine gets to VTEC - if you want loud - get it. Its not annoying at all when driving regular because you can barely hear anything untill you punch it.
