aem question

I searched this topic, just wanted to ask quick question. Is the aem for 2001 cls really that loud as some members make it out to be. And when people say loud is it just alot of breathing noise? Im in between the aem and icebox.

I had one. It was annoyning to me. Not only does it howl at WOT but it makes all sorts of hissing & farting noises. If you have the AC on it makes it even more worse. I just got sick of it.

If it's anything like the Injen, which I think it is, it's just a sucking/hissing noise at idle and slow speeds, unless at WOT where it roars once you hit vtech. That is the only time you will think it's loud. When you are cruising down the highway, you won't even notice you have it.

It's not loud at all.. IMO it's too quiet. I liked my short-ram on my AV6 much better.

But the noise is most noticeable at WOT (throaty growl) or when turning off the engine (sucking sound). Other than that it's not noticeable.

I love it. But like said above, its mainly only at WOT. Tag-team it with a nice exhaust setup

I have an icebox and it does not sound a whole lot different than the stock intake at any point in the rpm range. But the performance gains are similar to the AEM.

The AEM VTEC roar on the Type S is just straight mean.

But like someone said, it does hiss at idle and the hissing gets louder with the AC on. To me, its worth the trade off. However, to others it may not be.
