AEM CAI vs. ICEBOX.

ok....finally got the icebox on and dynoed compared to the aem cai

1) AEM CAI
213.9 hp
193.9 lb

2) AEM CAI
Comptech Headers
HKS Exhaust
229.1hp
202.8 lb

3) Comptech ICEBOX
Comptech Headers
HKS Exhaust
231.9 hp
207.6 lb

Dyno:

The green line is the 1st dyno. The red is the 2nd and the Blue the 3rd.
You can see the high end gain from the headers from 1st to 2nd dyno.
On the 3rd dyno, you can see where the mid-range was tuned out and there was a good gain of hp. What i noticed is that the car would get .5-1 hp from just cooling down.

My gallery has a dyno video of the AEM CAI on page 3. here:

the dyno of the comptech icebox sound is on page 6 here:

also here are some sample pics from the dyno:

Did you clean the AEM CAI filter when you compared to the ICE box new and clean filter?

It seems that gains are identical and with 1-2 HP. Also, you have to discard all the numbers below 3000 rpms... For example you are making no more than 190 lbft of torque...

BTW, do you have the soft version?... How about correction factors?

Looking good!

Ah one more thing from the video when you dynoed the AEM you did not use the Yellow fan/blower but you did when you dynoed the Comptech ICEbox......

Damn those are crazy power gains. Wait these aren't peak numbers are they? Cause its the area under the curve that counts. I wonder how the ICEBOX compares to the new V2??

Okay, I am not up on dynos and all but do lightweight wheels make any difference? It looks like the Comptech Headers really are worthless below 6000 RPMs.

Also note he has light weight volk rims.

CLSTER Lightweight rims DO make a difference. unsprung weight. Excellent torque gain , about 5lbs more than the AEM.

numbaonexstunna,
Do any of those gains show before and after the install of the volk rims?

Sorry i dont, all of the dynos were done by balanced performance so i have no idea.

Ah one more thing from the video when you dynoed the AEM you did not use the Yellow fan/blower but you did when you dynoed the Comptech ICEbox......
That was when i did the dyno with cai and comptech headers......balanced charges 60$ to do baseline runs and 150$ to tune the v-afc. i was not aware that they wouldnt show air/fuel ratio or even use fans.

did you use your V-AFC to tune it at all?
I used the V-AFC at the end. You can tell where i leaned out the mid-range power cause it increased a lot compared to just having the aem cai and headers.

Do any of those gains show before and after the install of the volk rims?
The only thing before the wheels is the first dyno of just the AEM CAI.
