AEM AGAIN -- OH NO!!!

AEM questions for AEM CAI owners.

1. Do you guys have 2 hose clamps in the area of the 3" rubber tube and the TB (Throttle Body). If you have an AEM, and you've looked under the hood, you will know what I'm talking about. There is a 3" x 3" round rubber hose that connect the AEM aluminum tube with the rest to the TB.

I only found 1 hose clamp holding it on the TB, and no clamp holding on the pipe (the seal is good, but I'm thinking about a trip to Napa or Pep-boys, if the dealer left it off.

2. RUB-A-Dub-DUB? I noticed that I have a rubber stand-off to hold up the pipe. I noticed that the "mechanics" added a second, additional washer to hold the air-pipe up a bit higher up from the splash guard. DID YOU GUYS have this same mount? Did you still need to remove the fastener (or whatever) holding the splash guard in place.

3. If any of you had a rubbing problem (like Mike) with the intake of the AEM and the splash guard, did you notice that the air filter was sitting on the splash guard, or made a rubbing sound if you moved the pipe?

When I move the pipe around a bit, it looks like it is clear, but it is very hard to see down in that hole to check the clearance of the K&N with the splash guard. I ran out this evening with some good top quality tie-wraps, and mag-lite, (still got a ton of electronic parts around) and went looking for rub points.

Can someone let me know how they identified the "rub" problem, and the steps they did (in order) to correct it.

Thanks in advance (I may or may not have a problem, but I figure better safe than sorry).

BTW -- since I didn't install it, I am just getting around to getting my hands "all over it".

More AEM -- yes, I called AEM, and Keyes left off the hose clamp on one side of the install.

I also found a tiny ding in the top fender where they were working. Looks like they hit the top of the fender with the pipe. Off to dent-wizards for mini-ding fix. Too bad -- didn't touch the paint (thank you Zaino), but left just enough of a ding, that you can see it in the right light.

What a bunch of morons!

Add Keyes to the "Hall of Shame" list.

Pathetic....

Current clean-up their (we don't care about your car) work list:

1. Stop by Napa or Pep-boys for 3" hose clamp

2. See Dent-Wizards for a "rub-down"

Nice....

Pasadena Acura for the next stop...

P.S. -- still would like to know about looking for the area were the AEM K&N filters rub...
