Acura's version of SMG?

I was reading into the RD-X and sure enough it says a 6-speed, close-ratio clutchless manual transmission.

It this honda/acura's version of SMG???

I am speculating. I am sure it is not like the Toyota's Spyder simplistic and miserable Clutshless.

If Acura would ever mass produces one. It should compete with M3 SMG... Full compturized SMG... Maybe not with 10 different programs, at least 3-4 would be enough.

Shawn,

How do you roll slowly ( rpms less than 1k) in a stick, do you just keep 50/% clutch, and keep rpms bit high say 1200 rpm?

Or is it okay to stall the engine?

Yeah, you just let the clutch out barely. The idle speed should start to roll the car a bit. Once you get good at the clutch you can tell where the engagement/disengagement point is, and by the sound of the engine you know when it is about to stall.

I’m sure I will a few times the first week since I’m a little bit out of practice.
I rarely drive the wife’s 5-Speed Integra more then once or twice a month.
She gets pissed because I like to REV the shit out of it.

That thing is in pretty fine shape especially considering it’s older then many of the members here.

What's wrong with the MR2's clutchless tranny? I know it's no SMG with 5 different modes but other than that it's still the same right? Also, can you do a clutch drop with a clutchless tranny like from 3000 rpm?

BMW SMG let you do that clutch drop but it's the Euro edition.
