acura warranty

I just had a pretty interesting experience with Acura dealerships and the warranty...

I had a clip break on the outside door molding(the silver part surrounding the window). I asked my regular dealership to look at it(Clair Acura) and they came back and told me that because my car was out of warranty it would cost me 50 dollars to replace the part + ~10 dollars labor Now, I drive about 3200 miles/month and my car had just reached 53k when I brought it in - so I had been out of warranty for around a month. I'm not sure when the clip actually broke, I just happened to notice it and wanted it fixed. The kicker is that I have the AcuraCare 100K mile warranty - Clair still refused to fix it under warranty saying that it wasn't covered(possible true).

I got sick of arguing with them, so I just told them to forget about it and rather than give them anymore of my money, I called Sunnyside and ordered the part from them($39 - cheaper than Clair as well). I went to pick it up today and unfortunately they had ordered the wrong side, so I was talking to the parts guy and he asked me why I was ordering it and not getting it fixed under warranty. I told him the story and he tells me to hold on and gets a service advisor to come talk to me. The service advisor can't understand why Clair wouldn't replace the molding under warranty - especially since I had the extended warranty. Anyways, he was really cool and told me to bring it in next week when the part comes in and he'd replace it under warranty. :bigclap:

I've had some minor maintenance done at Sunnyside - but Clair has been the dealer I've gone to for everything for the last 5 years(1 integra and 2 cls) - I've spent so much money there it's pretty pathetic. I'm sure in the long run it won't make a difference to Clair - but they've probably just lost one long time customer.

:pee: Clair Acura

Write a letter to Manager at Claire and quote the person's name. Don't let the idiot get away with it...

For every good experience a person has, they tell 4 people on average, for every bad one they tell 20.

Dealerships know this, let them know that you were wronged, and if they are smart they will try something to fix it.
