...for the first time. Flyin to Lauderdale to check it out-o1 S 30k in black. Wish me luck. For the 1st time, I was getting wistful at the Bimmer dealer knowing it was the last visit there for my M.

C'est la vie. Hope the CL is decently fun or easy to make that way.

you are getting rid of a M3 for a CLS?

Im guessing it was a e36 with high mileage?

Maybe he had an M coupe or an M5.

Have a safe trip and best of luck with the car.

Thanks, it's an m3 sedan w/auto but still incredible. Never drove a better auto or better brakes(or better handling for that matter).
However, I;ll appreciate the luxo touches in the cl and the softer ride-the M is punishing here in NY(worst roads in the USA).

Thanks and a full report to follow. Anything I shouuld check for specifically? Warranteed for almost 2 more yrs.

When I first test drove the Type-S 6 speed (April '02) I was thinking it would be a good replacement for my M3. After putting 30 very varied miles on the CL (and letting a few months pass) I realized that the CL was not a potential replacement for the M3 .... but it was an ideal replacement for the '00 Max SE I was using as my daily driver. The M3 and the CL now happily co-exist in my garage.

If mine was not a sedan, I'd keep it. I'm trying to stave off a Z4 SMG but we'll see how long that lasts. What M3 is yours?

'98 Estoril Blue. Been looking at the S60R but too many 1st year problems with it ... might wait and see what they do with the '05s or hold out to see if the new 4 series tempts me. Had been waiting forever for the 6 series, but I'm not into a $75K German made Buick.

Well, as I feared, the dealer was a lying rebuilder. It was decently resdone on the rear 1/4 but done nonetheless. The dealer even took me to the ACura authorized body shop(a pal od his) and the bodyman lied even more-he denied there was any paintwork! Nothing like S FL for scams.

I offered 16k for it-clean title & carfax and ultra clean otherwise but still feel like someone slept with my fiancee'.

Sound like a decent deal still?

How do you know there isn't any frame damage???

I'd pass on the deal.

$16k for an '01 CL-S with 30k miles is a good deal IMO. I paid $22k for my '02 CL-S with just under 32k back in May.

NO idea on frame damage aside from sticking my head underneath, seeme d to be a small area in the door jam where there was a small bend that wasn't on the other jam. Drove fine though.

16k is not unreasonable for a refurbished car, but it'll always be a couple thou less than an original one. Still pondering it...
