The new DVD display works and looks exactly like the old one. The old version didn't have Toledo, Ohio mapped very well, except for the major roads, and now with the new version even the gravel road that my friend lives on is mapped.
Only got to use it at lunch coming from home to work, but except for the added mapping, there isn't any difference in the user interface between the previous version and this one.
It does have a new feature called "Verified Routing" but I didn't read what that was yet.
It's nice to know that it is more current though.

Well I got home and started reading the addendum and here are the changes in a nutshell. The ones in quotes come directly from the insert.
"Map coverage now includes most of the rural areas in the lower 48 states."
Database is expanded to 7 million points of interest (POI's).
New item in Setup called Unverified Routing On or Off. Used to choose whether to have manual or automatic routing in rural areas.
"In the Places menu, The Shopping and Auto Services catergories ae expanded do you can more easily find your favorite coffee shop, hardware store, etc."
"After installing this update, your previous navigation DVD will no longer function because of changes in the database format. If you wish to revert back to your previous version, see your dealer for assistance."
After using this for the short amount of time, I have realized that my house has moved across the street and my next door neighbors house is 3 houses down and also on the wrong side of the street. The previous versions had our houses exactly where they were supposed to be. Hope other things haven't moved around incorrectly!
And the biggest change...the Voice has been Americanized! No more Japanese accented directions (which I kinda liked), now the voice sounds kinda like Roz from Frazier. And a little bitchy too, if you ask me.

Someone make an MP3 of it talking. At least it's still female. I kind of like the current voice, too.
I hate that fucking "ding!" noise though

Wonder if they purposely defeated going back to the previous version. What does this mean?
If you make a copy of the disc and you install it, your Navi firmware will upgraded automatically and you may as well sell your old disc. That means you are forced to use the copy.
If that copy fails for any reason (and something tells me there is a reason why copies seem to fail), then you are SOL. Unless you go buy a new disc or get another copy.

The new NAVI DVD ROCKS !!!!
I got mine today and it’s LOADED with info.
All the roads by me are on it and that’s quite impressive.
Even several new developments that aren’t even built are represented.
There aren’t even houses built, but the roads are noted.
As for POI (Points of Interest) there are TONS.
I entered “restaurants” and it found every little place that I know of in my hometown.
On the old version it didn’t show anything for miles.
BUY IT !!!
BUY IT !!!
BUY IT !!!
Thank you Acura for coming through on this sucker !!!
Shawn S
PS……….. Message form my “Evil Twin” Shawn:
NO GO on copying this sucker.
It’s a gold DUAL LAYER DVD with over 7-GIG of data.
A standard single layer DVD only holds 4.7 GIG.
No way to copy that I know of.
I guess all you pirates need to pony up and spend the money this time..... SORRY

But copies will cost a $1.00 (if you have a dvd burner) and if something were to happen to your original then I doubt Acura will replace it. In that case you're out $360.. I'd rather pop in a few backups and waste maybe a dollar every once in awhile if something does happen, then to spend another $180.

Thanks for the info Shawn. Can you do me a favor and tell us what happens if you put the old DVD back in?
I don't like that "you can't go back" thing. I like my Japanese accented girl!
