It is the Canadian only made 1.6 Acura EL, essentially it's a civic with leather and other goodies, only made in one model, comes with everything, used to run about 19,000 CDN which is maybe 16700USD. I know cause the wife used to have a 1999 EL before she was my wife and before she came to the states. Talking to the Canook Acura Dealers, they are nice, but don't look for them here ever, its strictly Canadian, thats the only spot I believe they sell them, they make em where the Civic is made, eithier Ontario or Calgary? Not sure. Wanted to bring the wifes back in the states to Cali, roll it and get the ohhs and ahhs, but the US wanted 3000USD to bring it over, no emissions like we have plus of course it dosent have the US safety specs, what a crock, they just wanted cash, so she sold it off.

Maybe cause people here don't take 4cyl luxury cars seriously, remember the 4dr integra? Most folks wanted the 2dr. Thats what the Corolla is for. Oh yeah Infiniti G20, what a joke, can we say Sentra SE-R?

 

it is a better version of honda civic ex..and only avaliable in canada.. nothing special

 

You should be glad we don't get the EL!!! It would make Acura look less "prestigous."

 

Thats a good point, but does that make you think that Acura would limit the models to come to the states. I didn't even know they made an EL.

i saw one in the parking lot at an outlet mall near ATL. it had GA tags so i guess they paid the $3K to get it here! we were drivin thru the parking lot lookin for a spot and i spotted what appeared to be a civic from the rear, but i noticed it had an acura badge! so i was like wtf is that! my friend was like its just a civic, i said i dont think so, so we went and took a look at it, and sho'nuf it was a 1.6 EL and yeah its basically a civic with leather, and a little different body styling.
