For anything related to the Acura you can use the search function on this forum.

As for my opinion...

If its between a 01 IS and CL... then its CL hands down IMO.

The 02 IS is a better contender though. Real leather... manual... armrest... it is worth the 34k or whatever it is now.

So its all up to what your looking for in a car.

I was in your position to 7 months ago trying to decide between CL-S and IS300.
Here's what sold me for the CL-S
1. power of the engine
2. price
3. great option with real leather, and NAVI
4. styling, yup that's right the IS300 is kinda boy racer especially those light at the back. The CL-S is more subtle yet elegant.
Dont get me wrong IS 300 is a great car but it's not for me hehehe...

The CL-S has so much more to offer over the IS300. It definitely is the best bang for your buck!

If you decide against the CL-S, you really should look into the BMW 330i (or 330ci) before purchasing an IS300.

Same here, even though I didn't go w/ the navi, which is my only regret. Plus I think you'll see much more ISs around than CLs so go with the CL if you want the exclusivity, even though the IS looks awesome when dropped on 19s, you don't even notice the fugly rear lights.

IS300 = BOY RACER RICER DELUXE AND SLOW

CLS = CONSERVATIVE LOOKS, FAST, LUXURY,

Ask the Lexus dealer to take the front tires up to 38psi and the rear tires up to 35psi, and I think you'll be able to come to a decision.

I drove them back to back 3-4 times on different roads and speeds. IS has better handling. Nothing else about it seemed as good as CLS, especially the dash and gauges. Hauling butt wasn't easy as the tach is small and depending on the sunlight, etc. it's hard to see when you need to watch traffic, etc. And now that I've done Comptech springs and Toyo Proxes T1S 225/45s, the handling difference is minimal. Also, IS seems like a small car, while the CLS has more luxury and 260 screaming VTEC horses. One more thing, the girls at this great Thai restaurant in Atlanta looked at the brochures of both and all gave thumbs up to the CLS. Both are nice cars. You can't make a bad decision either way.

the CL-S has much more bang for the buck..everything standard on the CL-S is optional and therfore more money on the IS300. Lets face it too..the IS300 is kinda ugly looking...looks like a jetta too...go with the CL-S..fun as hell to have, sporty and classy..more power...and to me, the best $30k car on the road.
just my opinion.

Most IS300s look ugly. Only a few colours look pretty good. If you just gotta have a Lexus...then I suppose. But that would be the only reason.

If you want to be one out of hunhred, then go with IS. However, if you want to be one of the few and proud, then definitely go with the CL. I see one IS just about on every stop light.

Man, I'm glad, I live in TX. Also, which car came out first. I think CL has been out for almost a year. Give it a year time with IS, then you'll see. It'll be like Accord population.

He meant to say boy ricer.

It's a riced-out Civic. Although I hear the '02 might have some nicer options. Maybe they'll get rid of the ricey taillights and give it some more luxury-esque visual features.

What they NEED to do is offer some chrome twankies for it.

Plus, the IS300 can be modded to hell. Reminiscent of the Supra IMO.
That's a big bene if you plan on racing it.

My opinion: Buy the Ac' if you want luxury and some performance, buy the Lex' if you want an ass-kicker tuner car with a touch of luxury.

Drove them both on real roads. The CLS is way faster, much roomier, and although I don't think it is beautiful, the IS300 is built for a 19 year old ricer. On real roads, ie. lots of bumps, the CLS handles better. Also, the IS300 is unbearable on long stretches of crappy freeway.

I think he meant that over bumpy roads, since our suspension is a little softer, the ride isn't as harsh.

IMO the CL-S is already a better car mechanically and aesthetically inside, and once the aerokit comes out... look out. Think about it this way... for the same price you could have an IS300 or a CL-s with headers, exhaust, CAI, sways, springs, densos, and an aerokit...

No comparison IMO.

Lexus...
The only thing that has been installed so far is the plugs. The CAI and Pulleys get installed on wednesday, and the rest is still in waiting from comptech. I hope to gain 40-50 hp once everything is installed...

As for the aerokit, there isnt one yet for the cls. But if you go to comptechusa.com you can see pictures of the one for the tl. Also someone here posted pictures of a blue tl with an aerokit earlier today.

Just in defense of the IS a little bit...

The IS300 tailights might be ugly... but their only ricey because every gay ass in their civic has copied them.

They came first on the IS (Altezza) and I think their a pretty good idea if they werent ao bitten off of.

The IS only looks good in certain colors...

If you can get a 2002 at discount in a few months... it is a steal... but the 2001 IS just seems unfinished... no arm rest? no navi? no real leather? no dimming mirrors?

Its just not of 33-34k value. I dont even really think the 2001 is worth 28k.

But... for 2002 they address all of my above complaints... as well as giving it some nicer colors... and a manual.

I think that puts it in the acceptable for 30k range.

So if the 2002 goes on discount for 28k. Your golden.

This is why I wouldnt buy a 2001...

It just looks very unfinished. The 2002 is supposed to get nicer interior materials as well as all the above features.

And plus... the fact that lexus says this on their website... "If you're not into leather, black fabric looks pretty hot" just makes me sick that they can sell this car for 30+k

Anyway... moral of the story... if you like the IS... wait for 2002 if you want any bang for your buck.
