acura acura acura...

i am droping off my car for servicing today and was just checkin out the new TL, really nice car, nice interior, nice exterior, everthing. oh and damw the higher model rims are really sexy, wonder if u can buy those. anyways, i am just looking at the TL and some idiot sales person is giving my looks like i am gonna steal the car. i then get out and walk over to a tsx, that has its keys in the ignition. i look over at the salesman and he look s like he is going to piss his pants like am gonna turn on the car and smash the window and drive away. i then walk out of the dealership, thinking wahtever it is just my imagination, then another salesman walks out after me as i am looking at a 2k3 CL (damn) neways comes up to me and is like can i help u. i said "no" in the rudest voice possible. he then watched me and waited for me to leave. my mom rolls into the parkin lot and i am just like " OH LOOK ITS MY MOM, IN HER MERCEDES" fuckin idiot. guess it was just cause i am 17, brown haven't shaved in about a week and my facial hair grows like a forest fire. plus i was dressed with baggy jeans and all. don't u love the extra attention.

How did you expect someone to treat you ... you being 17, wearing baggy jeans, and unshaven for a few days ..??

Not to be the first one to enlighten you or anything, but there are people in society that will "stereotype" you .. i know it's hard to believe .. it's a pretty hard thing to handle at first.

I'd love to know also, on the other hand, how you could read this guy's mind about what he was thinking while you were checking out the car... perhaps you're reversing the stereotype and just assuming he's thinking all these negative things about you -- you assumed he thought you to be this petty thug, you assumed he thought you were going to STEAL or VANDALISE the car in broad daylight, during business hours, with PLENTY of witnesses... oh and because you're "brown" .. isn't that reverse racism?

Glad to know that your mother's Mercedes could instill confidence in your self-esteem ... that's what your parent's luxury cars are for. Hell, she worked hard for it, so why shouldn't it make that salesman feel stupid, right??

Whats funny is that most of the people buy cars when they don't expect that themselves I bought my car by total accident, I was going to "Best Buy" store and stoped just to take a look at Acuras... I was dressed like a bump (not a typical Acura driver) the sales people did not even talk to me much, the figured that I am "just looking". When I started being serious about buying they were like: "you might consider a used cars bla bla". I had to tell him few times that I do not want a used one.

yea, that's the same with REAL ESTATE agents. When i was 21 my gf and I were look'n for a small apartment and we sought out this realitor to help us out. She showed us a bunch of places and unforunately they were just ugly look'n for not in the right location for us. She finally got fed up and thought that we were just wasting her time and NEVER called us back. I called her back and she was like, oh if you're serious then come down and we can meet, but if u're "just look'n" then you don't need my time blah blah blah.. well, 3 months later we bought a place - brand new condo. I wrote a letter to tell her to slap herself that she just lost a good prospect and good commission. The new place we bought was more expensive than the other crappy apartments she was showing us.

I love that kinda feeling.

When I bought my Legend Coupe back in 1992 I was stretched pretty thin and barely making the payments.
I had a new mortgage on a house and another on a small multi-unit rental that I owned.
They knew me at the local Acura dealership and I usually went there after work while I was still dressed up w/ a tie.
One time I was there and I was bullshitting with the owner after a service.
He said they had just gotten an NSX in and asked if I wanted to take it for a ride.
I took him up on his offer and had a blast driving that thing.
There was no way in HELL that I could have afforded it at the time, but they thought I could.
They saw a 25 year old professional looking guy driving a 35,000 dollar Legend and thought I was loaded.

You can’t expect to look like a SLOB and get treated well at ANY kind of upscale establishment unless they know you.

Very true...

Outside of being common sense; many people need to be exposed to a professional environment before they understand.

There's a small used car dealership right down the road from me, the owner usually greets the prospects. I came in looking at a BMW 740 one day after work, dressed casually. After speaking breifly with him, I asked to test drive the car. HE REFUSED! I couldn't believe it. I could have easily purchased the car if I wanted to, and I even told him that I had 13K cash to put down. I was so insulted that I never went back there again. I guess either the car was shit, or he thought that I wasn't a serious buyer.

HERES TO YOU ANNAPOLIS USED CARS-

So this is what I have learned from this thread:

1) You can't expect to be treated with respect at a dealership if your dressed like a SLOB and are rude to the sales staff.

2) If you want to look at the cars, bring your dad who should be a doctor. :fag:

3) Having your mommy's mercedes addressed in your sig is :ghey:

My fathers neighbors uncles roommate is friends with some guys sister who has a pool guy that knows the gynecologist for Britney Spears.

I think I’ll put that in my SIG so people are impressed.

Crazy: Is Woodfield Acura in Hoffman Estates out of your range? They have always treated me just great! I went there for an oil change in the mid 90's with my GSR, and it was taking too long. So I peeked into service, and there on the lift is my car with both wheels off the drivers side. I Asked, WTF?, and they said "We don't like the looks of your wheels, so we are replacing them for you". OK.

Check with Nicky Pass. I think he will tell you they're good too.

Tell Ray Pena in service that Dave F. with the navi anthricite 03 cls6 with the chrome powder coated wheels sent you. He'll treat you right.

I walked into a Pontiac dealership and got treated like dirt. I walked into an Acura dealership and the sales staff jumped at me, offering me a test drive within 5 minutes of talking.

Yet, my dad got his new car from the Ponatic/GMC dealership because they had the only carbon metallic with a 50-mile radius. I should pull up in my car after my dad when he takes his car in for service and laugh at the sales person. What an idiot.

i was once told at a vw dealership that i can't test-drive a jetta unless i'm intending to buy it the same day. at that point i was shopping for a car for my sis and it was between jetta and a civic and the dealerships were right next door. about two hours later i drove in there in a new civic with the stickers and everything, came up to the same sales person and told him to look outside the window at my new car. you should have seen the look on his face. oh, i was wearing sweats cuz i was gonna go to a gym afterwards...

the thing is when ever my dad goes to buy or look at car, he always goes dressed as a slob trackpants and shirt, the thing was this time he had just come off of work so he was dressed properly. i remeber when we were looking for my moms merecdes, (was on a sunday) my dad went in track pants and unshaven and we were lookin at S classes and M classes, and the merecedes guyes where treating us with the atmost respect, that is what i call proper service. even when we bought my dads nissan they were respectful (but nissan service dept. is crap, thas another story tho.) my point : dodn't judge a book by its cover.
